might be other competitors coming out soon, too....who knows.

So if that is true then there are not enough audiophiles in Canada and the US to warrant the release of the higher quality phones with better DACs.

I think it's all BS. I get releasing different flavors of food etc to different countries. But releasing a faster phone to one group of countries than another to me makes NO sense at all. Why the F would one country be ok with having the slower version of a phone than everyone else? I think it has nothing to do customer preferences and EVERYTHING to do with the bottom line. By putting in a cheaper a processor but still selling it at a higher price (which I'm sure is what they all do, if not close to that), they are saving a considerable amount of money in production costs. It's all BS.

I wouldn't call Apple ignorant Whit. I think they're actually the ONLY one who ISN'T being ignorant. No matter who or where you are in the world, you know your iPhone 6S is no different than someone's in another country. Now THAT is what I call customer satisfaction. lol

Yes.They market these phones with having these great specs and then when the phone is released, that hyped up version is only available in a few countries. That is misleading.

Yes Nirvana, VERY misleading. Even Sony who I still love to death is doing that. The Z5 and upcoming X & X Performance phones all have the fingerprint sensor on the int'l one but the U.S. had the software for it removed?? I like that at least the X phones are only 1 model now not two (well, one Single-SIM model) like the Z5 was. But still, spreading the word that your phone has a fingerprint sensor then removing the software to run it for the U.S. is beyond stupid. They don't think between word of mouth and REVIEWS that we won't find out? lol But yeah as I'd said before, many of them do that. Samsung, HTC........ it's BS. It should be outlawed if you ask me. Give it a COMPLETELY different name and model # if you're gonna do that. At least then I can say, ok, that's a different phone altogether. It's all about perception. I'll be a lot less p'd if I want the HTC 10 but in other countries they get (making up a name here lol) say, the HTC 10+ which let's say has an 823 processor instead of the 820. Yeah I'd prob rather have the +, but at least I can save face and say to people "well that's a different phone". There's only ONE X Performance, there's only ONE S7, ONE M8 (jinx! lol), etc. But having different versions of each doesn't sit well with me, and if everyone was told about these, it wouldn't for them either.

Agreed. Before the V10, I was waiting for Marshall to release their London phone. A year later, it still isn't available here.

Then, if you buy phones and have them shipped overseas, you find they aren't fully compatible with your service or are missing certain frequencies.

I know it isn't available everywhere but think LG did an ok job with the V10. Its not perfect but at least we knew all of them had the dac chip. But many people complained it was too large or ONLY had a Snapdragon 808 instead of the phone melting 810. Now those who wanted the G5 just because of the Snapdragon 820 find out they can't get the dac module.

Seems we are never satisfied.

These manufacturers are banking on people's ignorance of what is actually released in their country. That's not only ethically wrong but its false advertising.

Nice. I was lookin' at that London phone too. Wasn't crazy on the specs but the music capabilities were very cool! And having Slash promote it was even better (going to see Guns'n'Roses on Fri July 1st at Soldier Field in Chicago..........CAN'TTT WAITTT! lol).

Yeah I dunno where to buy it. I assume you can find it online though? But I didn't check. Sony proposed doing something similar though never followed through on it with the Xperia Z4 Music

Yeah that's another thing too. Making sure those int'l phones actually work on your carrier. For that, I recently found this website and used it to verify that the X Peformance WILL INDEED work on both T-Mobile & AT&T here in the U.S.

Yes the LG V10 from what I've seen and read about it (saw it in person at T-Mobile Store recently too) is a VERY solid phone and great choice. Had it been smaller, I'd probably buy it now. I don't mind the 808 so much really as IMO with regards to processors, screens, etc..........I think we're very close to hitting "the ceiling" when it comes to what can be achieved. I don't believe we'll EVER have the kind of "revolution" we had in the '00s with regards to like TV screen technology, and are now with processors. Remember the first time about 10 years ago you saw a blu-ray movie on an HDTV? That crap was jaw-dropping! lol But now, we got 4K TVs and HDR and etc. And it's all good, you will notice differences, but NOTHING like what we saw back then. Processors now are so f'ing' fast that even not having the newest one or a midrange doesn't mean very much anymore...........they're STILL very fast! So yeah, 808 is fine by me. lol

Yes it would seem so! lol

Exactly. Very true. Whether's it less or even more industrialized country, it's wrong. Maybe NOT ethically, but I might argue that one too. lol False advertising? MOST definitely!

Not everyone may know, but ANYONE who researches before they buy (and I feel like because of the internet MORE & MORE people are doing this too actually) will very likely come across that information. And they may tell other ppl who don't normally research. Then they buy a phone from someone else. So really, sometimes trying to save a buck can cost you 2. lol

Ok, I'm new to this thread.

I purchased the G5 a few days ago in hong kong and the DAC is sold for USD 128 if purchased with the phone, apparently the dac is also delayed till the end of the month, so i can test the SQ when I receive it, i've came from the Sony ZX2 and the LG V10.

What I haven't heard from people from this thread is the chipset used in the DAC unless I missed a post or something, and from my findings it has the ES9028+ES9603 if anyone needs to know.

What I really like to know is the quality of the sound used with the Hifi plus when listening to Hi Res flac and DSD which the G5 also supports with the internal chipset.

The 9028 chipset has been mentioned numerous in this thread.

Few have been able to test the module because of limited release and only in some countries. Similar to the V10, even though the chip specs say DSD capable, it doesn't mean the G5 can play them by default. You may still need to use Onkyo HF player or another app to play DSD. Even then, it may only play the files as DoP. Won't know for sure til someone tries it.

It does play DSD default, not sure about the output signal.

Yeah, I know everything you said is true, but it doesn't make it any less cool that Slash is promoting it. LOL

Yeah, it's clearly NOT a power phone! It is ALL about the audio, so, I can't honestly hate it. lol

I appreciate Marshall trying though. I'd rather the phone was pricier but had better specs. Because then I could just use it as my phone AND my premium & portable amp/DAC. Oh well. lol
