☯️ CAVALLI AUDIO ➜ Liquid Carbon Loyalty/Upgrade Discount
Feb 6, 2016 at 7:46 PM Post #76 of 166
I think the 50% deposit is reasonable. The Glass is 3499.00, after the discount 2900.00. That's 1450.00 down and 1450.00 when they ship. Sell some gear, cut back on Starbucks. I think I can pull this off. Those carbons don't stay on the classifieds for more than an hour. So that's money in your pocket when your new amp comes in. Might get divorced over this, but I'll have some really nice gear to keep me company, cheers

Ha ha! Working at Starbucks while I write this, and I've been thinking that the Glass is going to be great, but it's going to be really hard for my wife to pretend that she doesn't notice it, putting stress on the Don't Ask, Don't Tell policy that has governed my headphonphilia up to now....

I thought Glass was a hybrid too? At least that's what the owner of the Glass at the meet told me.

Others understand far more than me, but Crimson is an "embedded" design in which the tube is part of the circuit, but swapping it out won't have a huge effect on the sound. It's more of a combination solid-state/tube sound that won't change all that much.

In comparison, Glass is really meant to highlight the characteristics of the tubes. The SS portion exists more to just power the tubes and give them a platform to shine.

Thanks for the clarification and my apologies for the not quite correct answer!

My wife was surprisingly cool about me getting the Crimson.  Of course I didn't tell her how much it cost, just that I got it for $1000 off.  o.O  She knew enough not to ask after that. lol

My wife learned what I paid for my tweaked VPI HRX; that was not a fun discussion even though I believed I told her it was a heck of a deal for a new table. Come to think of it, that didn't help the discussion

Hi Warren,

Im a devoted Cavalli Audio owner after purchasing my Liquid Fire mkI second hand (see my avatar).

Im very happy with my amp but Im wondering if a similar kind of offer keeping in spirit with this deal might be offered to owners of older Cavalli units?

This is a great idea! Someone trades in his Crimson for a higher model, Cavalli checks and certifies it, and I buy it at a great price. Someone else trades in a Glass and I buy it for a great price. (Does this sound s little selfish?) Cavalli could have a wanted list we could sign up for to hopefully get the amp we want used at a reduced price. Being retired on a fixed income can make you come up with inventive ways to get things.

Tempting offer, but two things holding me back so far:
1) Yes, this is the last chance (at a discount), but what will be new products?... Current amps are surely very good, but what if a new one will be more suited to my needs/ideas?
2) For me, the killer is import taxes (VAT) to Europe. More than 700 USD for the Lau makes me cold, unfortunately.

Here's my view on this thought process. If you're constantly wondering about what's coming next, you'll often miss out on what's currently available. Manufacturers are rarely sitting on their hands and are often working on products at various points in their development cycles. Many of the products that we see today take years to develop. Chances are good that Cavalli, and most manufacturers for that matter, have something in the works for a future launch. Remember that audio products tend to hold value and can be resold when a future item comes out that you want. I sold an older amp (V181) to get my LC when it launched, but before that I still had an amp that I could enjoy. If you can buy a current amp at a discount before the new stuff comes out you're even more likely to recoup the majority, if not all, of your initial investment. If you can get a deal now, why put off a purchase for an unknown future?

I understand and agree.
But when I take how good is the new LC, it greatly increases my curiosity and anticipation... and Cavalli Audio is amended (http://www.head-fi.org/t/795315/cavalli-audio-next-phase)

Unfortunately greater importance has point 2)

Hey takato, long time no see!
smile.gif
We will probably start the ordering period next week, and leave it open until March 21st (the day after CanJam SoCal) so that people have one last opportunity to audition all of these amps before deciding.  Unlike previous runs, where there was a set quantity of amps available, we are making this run time-based instead.  That removes the quantity restriction, so that we don't have to turn anyone away based on quantity.  However, we do need to set a definite closure date for orders so that we can begin production without too much delay.

Ohhh man, end of March we are saving to pay uncle Sam, end of April is much easier on people's cashflow.  :)

Anybody else a little bummed out that the Liquid Crimson, Liquid Glass, and Liquid Gold are being retired after one more run?  These amps have been a goal for me for several years now, and it seems they are going to be off in the sunset before I'll have the funds to own one...

I'm not blaming Cavalli Audio for evolving.  And heck, maybe there will be a future flagship amp released by Alex and Warren in 2017 or beyond.  And maybe they'll make me totally forget about what's happening now.

I'm a bit bummed to see them go, but it doesn't have me discouraged. From what Warren has said, it seems they're still deliberating a second run of LC. He also mentioned that he has a roadmap that's built out for the next few years. I don't see another run of LC plus one final run of the premium amps being enough to sustain the company for long, so my assumption is that Alex is already in the kitchen cooking up something new. Hopefully my suspicions are correct because I want to see Cavalli Audio stick around for a long while.

I think I'm going to wait for the new releases. Hoping for a platinum(3/4 the price of gold) and fully balanced!!

As they just got a new CEO (Warren), it would seem they're not planning to close down shop. But, as these are the last batch of the current crop of amps, it does leave one wondering what is going to follow, and is it worth going for these now...(resale is an option, with the discount it is likely that one can get most of the investment back and put into the next generation if one so desires, though I've never been one to resell stuff, to my wife's displeasure).

I agree with AxelCloris.  It's a pretty good bet that Cavalli Audio isn't shutting its doors after just hiring a new CEO.  If they're retiring the existing line of amps, it can only be because they have bigger and better things on the horizon.

I, for one, welcome our new amplifier overlords.
