Audiophile-grade Japanese headphones, your opinon and soundsignature, what would you recommend?

It would help if you listed a budget?
List what types of music or other audio you plan on listening to?
What sources your plan on plugging the headphones into?
Do you have a DAC or headphone amplifier?
I own 3 Audio Technica headphones and all three have their positives.

i was thinking of this to, may be a discussion thread

but personally not over around 1200 euro

if it can handle Goa, psy-trance and trance as an example, because of the high input of sounds

if it can handle some decent relative bass, a flat response would be nice, with a audiophile quality sound and details

if it has a 3.5 jack would be good to have, but not a must

Do you have a DAC or headphone amplifier?
yes

listened to it, even think you can get for 150 euro's a better headphone, and it seem to break quite easily

The Z7's break easily??? They're one of the more well made full sized headphones I've ever had the pleasure to own, handmade in Japan and when amped properly with a good source they just sing!!!!  Check out the Z7 thread, nothing but positive reviews...maybe you've had them connected to your phone!

if you get an hit, on the side, the membrane will blow a small holes or tear, in the construction of the unit

and the sound is nothing i would say is specifically good, there is better headphones out there for a higher price

may be their next one, that they eventually will release, with the more experienced engineers that had been with the company, that will be better

I'm loving the Audio-Technica AD series. Have the AD900x and getting the AD1000x in a few days with Audeze microsuede ear pads. I've never heard such sweet and intimate female vocals!

Personally, I think they're very well made headphones.

Also, did you listen to them with the dedicated Kimber Kables (and an appropriate amp?)

And, as for what they'll do next in mid-fi headphones - who knows?

For now, the Z7 is what they offer.

havent had a listened to the kimber cables, they will probably get a better volume amount, still those cables aren't something i want to do

would have been better if they had kept, and going with the more experienced or the ones that had made their before very good headphones, as i feel the z-7 is bit of a modelling headphone

will probably perform with the right cables and setup, but out of the box and with different setup, with the stock cables doesnt seem to shine for the price, when it goes down to around 350 euros it will more fit for the price point, would have been better if they would have made it for a lesser price, meaning probably outside of Japan

have had a listened to it, and i feel that it doesnt give what i look for in a headphone, when putting up the tempo and details
