Doesn't seem like many people got impressions on the M6 and Hunter at Canjam... I'd like more reviews since I'm so on the fence from cancelling the m6 and switching to Hunter. This wait time from preorder to shipping is getting me gitty. :xf_eek:

I believe Bob said the tuning wasn't done yet on the PM6 so some people held back their impressions and those who did give them weren't based on the finished product. He said the PM6 should be tuned similarly to the Hunter. If they're close to being the same and the cash isn't an issue for you the Hunter's would probably be a better deal especially for the silver cables.

I heard both at CanJam and spoke to Bob briefly about them. The tuning on the PM6 obviously wasnt finished, hence it wouldn't be right to pass "final" comment on them. He did say that if he can get the tuning exactly how he wants it (and how it was on the previous round enclosure which was just too unwieldy, apparently) then the M6 sound be about 95% or more of what the Hunter will be in terms of sound. The main difference is on price of materials (titanium shells etc) and more expensive accessories like cables.

Please note, these aren't the official Trinity stance, just my rememberings of some brief ear time with both and a few minutes chatting to Bob.

This is what I heard as well and it prompted my interest in the m6

Maybe look at the FLC8s (300$) or the Unique Melody Martian (700$). Even the Master 4 should play in the same ball-park. Design-wise they are similar, though the M4 is slightly inferior in terms of isolation.

Where did you find information on isolation levels with the Phantom Master 4?
This is the one thing I am still very curious about - I am hoping it is at least at DUNU DN-1000 level.

Nobody knows anything on isolation yet. There are no reviews and nobody has even heard them except Bob!

I hope they include some double or triple flange silicone tips. They are the only ones that give some isolation to me. The spinfits were a big disappointment.

"Huge accessory package inc our standard case, 6.3mm adapter, huge selection of eartips (S/M/M/L silicone, double flange,  S/M/L Memory foam, Spinfit tips XS/S/M/L"

^^That is on the Trinity site for the PM4 and PM6. You should be good.

OldDude04,
Thanks for the info. Trinity is good about accessories. Thats their strong point. I am kind of finicky when it comes to tips. Find it difficult to compromise on sound quality for comfort. In the worst case, I can always use the Etymotic triple flange grey tips which work the best for me so far.

It seems logical that they will not have as good isolation as the Shure's. They may provide isolation comparable to the RHA T10/20 as these have a similar design and small vent as well.

How about providing an option to convert the ported mode to sealed mode if needed, for better isolation? I think I saw one iem (can't remember which one) giving that option with a tiny plug that blocks the port hole. It would allow one to use the same iem in different environments. However I admit I don't have any expertise to comment on any resulting deterioration in sound quality because of it. I understand this might lead to less bass, which may be compensated by using a different filter if necessary.

You'll almost always need some "larger" intake of air in case of dynamic drivers. Plus the Sabres already have somewhat of an issue with driver-flex. Not a good idea in my book. Just makes the tuning a lot more difficult.

Indeed, that is what I have concluded from listening to the Sabres. The Sabres are fairly average in terms of noise-isolation and I presume the M4 will improve on that, albeit not by a large margin.

I think that is an interesting idea but not one that should be implemented on the M4. If the drivers need air, they need air period! If I am not mistaken the vents will also be very small, so it will not have the mediocre isolation of an open IEM (I imagine).
I am jumping on the M4 after my DN-1000 and hope these will provide equal or better clarity, bass depth and soundstage (and isolation of course).

Thats good news. As long as it does not let too much outside noise to come in, I would be happy. I agree, driver flex would be a big issue without port hole.

I was wondering whether it is possible to listen at a low/mid volume with the PM6 while walking on, say a busy road. I think only Bobtrinity can answer this question. I really like the Etys for that purpose.

Vented design on the M4. I'll bet my house that the SE846 has better noise-isolation. But Bob, you can always prove me wrong of course.

I'm sure you're correct. Maybe isolation to me is not as critical as I'm used to invented A73. I might not really understand what I'm missing but it appears to me that the shape of the master 4 even with the vented whole will help with some of the isolation I would hope
