This might help to clarify on various impressions for ATH-E70. The 3 BA configuration does affected by amplifier output impedance, and quite audible. Even going from 0.47 ohms to 10 ohms the differences is clearly audible. Not from good to bad, all the variation are quite ok actually, depending on preferences. Using the low impedance 0.47 ohms, I hear some mild sibilant, but good clarity. Using amp with 10 ohms output impedance, sibilant is gone and sounds more linear and balance. With high impedance of 47 ohms, E70 sounds mellow with some significant treble drop. Here is the graph showing the change in the mids and treble frequency response over various amp output impedance:

Personally I prefer 10 ohms output impedance for E70. Probably between 5-10 ohms would be the nice spot.

Would you write a full review of e70?

Btw, what amp or output support changing output impedance?

Unfortunately my schedule doesn't allow me to do full review for all the models, and there are other products in the queue currently to be reviewed. But I will review the E50 which I consider awesome for a single driver BA IEM. Really nice sounding for neutralist.

For the test of output impedance I use LH Geek Out 450 that has 2 ports, 0.47 ohms and 47 ohms, and for the 10 ohms I used old Centrance DACport.

Looking forward to it! I was most impressed by the E50 out of the entire lineup as well.

Would you guys say that e70 and im03 are different enough to justify having both? Iam highly impressed with e70 and would like to have another ie with a more "fun" signature. Im03 fits the bill from all ivr eead so far.

Go grab them. They are worth every penny.

An acquaintance bought the E70s a few weeks ago and has been raving about them ever since. He uses them with one of those custom sleeve type of tips (can't recall which brand) and says it's on par with any of his custom in-ears (not flagship ones though). Not saying I believe him - might just be new toy syndrome on his part - but it would be quite the bargain if true.

Here you go, compared with ATH-IM50.

Looking at the graph, the upper mids of the E40 is subdued compared to IM50 which leads me think that IM50 is better at bringing out the female vocals?

To me IM50 sounds better and more natural. E40 upper midrange hump is too much for me.

Well I don't have experiences with customs but plenty with universals. I owned nice iems like pfe232, w4, ue900 sd2/3/4, ie800, ex1000. While they were great in their own rights they all had something I coudlnt live long with like too hot treble or too relaxed misa. The most natural ones were definitely the sd2 but the lack of bass made music like pop/rock a tad boring.
The e70 is kinda like the sd2 with dry but not too analyical presentation. The mids are very slightly more relaxed which make them less fatiguating. They are the type of monitor sound, uncoloured without accentuating any frequency. And I happen to prefer that to the consumer sound.
The bass of the e70 definitely spices up the monitor sound. It is impactful with lifted subbass, albeit only a little( compared to ie800 LoL). But enough to put a smile everytime it comes alive.

Would love to see others joining the e70 club!

The main competitors are he ue900s (discarded for quality issues), one of the SD (as far as I've understood it's either too much bass or too little) and the se535ltd, but Shure's doesn't seem to be as good soundwise as the E70. So I'll stich with them and order them.
