Looking forward to trying 7.1 out this weekend.

For anyone reading that's not sure I can confirm everything in this review is spot on.
Worth getting and personally I would rate this over "magic cables" for the price.

After releasing version 7.0 for a while, I received a few of reports about usability problems since we have major UI changes. I didn’t expect the case of 800×600 resolution and high DPI scaling screen problems before releasing. I spent most of the time refining UX experience so it should work fine for all cases now.

I also fixed launching media player application bugs related to core affinity by enforcing execution to run with all cores. It should resolve reported performance issues now. After fixing all important bugs, I hope to improve audio optimizations better in future releases.

Changelog for version 7.1

Free
-Fixed Fidelizer may launch media player application on cores shared with non-audio processes on higher optimization levels
-Fixed some library server applications like Asset uPNP/J River Media Center that maybe treated as non-audio processes during optimizations
-Revised user interface to be compatible with low resolution and high DPI scaling screen

Plus
-Added change media player application option in running media player application dialog

Pro
-Added change media player application option in running media player application dialog
-Fixed Fidelizer may launch media player application on cores shared with non-audio processes on higher optimization levels
-Fixed some library server applications like Asset uPNP/J River Media Center that maybe treated as non-audio processes during optimizations
-Fixed startup optimizations terminating itself after 3 days
-Fixed Uninstall button working without installing before in Optimization Wizard
-Revised user interface to be compatible with low resolution and high DPI scaling screen

Got my 7.1 pro upgrade and have finally figured out how to run in purist mode and not slam my computer as soon as I start steaming audio from my NAS. All I needed to do was keep most of things from booting up with the computer and now i can run continuously in purist mode with no issues

update - it seems the culprit background app is my APC Powerchute UPS software. I disabled that and some other startup apps and added them back one by one. As soon as the Powerchute app was allowed to boot up and Fidelizer would do its thing the condition would return and slam would go the computer.

My system is no dog either.

Asrock Z97 Extreme 4 motherboard
Intel 4790K (no overclock)
32 GB 2400mHz DDR3
EVGA Titan X SSC
Samsung M2 SSD (as boot drive)
Windows 10 with Wasapi out to DAC

I'm glad to hear you finally get the good slam out from your system. That's also one of my important keys for my music listening pleasure. :)

By the way, APC is pretty good UPS but UPS will mostly degrade power performance to some degree. You may consider trying true online pure sine wave products from APC though it may cost you up significantly. I'm also considering ones for my turntable's motor right now but I'm not sure I'll use it on other components in my stereo system.

Regards,
Windows X

I've been using this on my music PC since Dec. 2014 and have never had any problems, notably with Fidelizer since 6.14 running in Extremist/Purist + Media Center mode:

When I got it it was cheaper than the APC equivalent.

Will I get maximum quality to try for free before buying?

I became interested in Fidelizer lately, but I would want to try before.

Also, would it be in conflict with one of these dolby sound enhancers that make my laptop's speaker and HO sound a bit better?

Pretty sure you won't.  If you read his web site, you can see that quality improves as you upgrade, which is, of course, absolutely reasonable.  Most, if not all, here will attest to the truth of that.  In my case, the free version gave a taste of what was possible, though it took me a couple test sessions to hear it.  Now if I go from free to 7.1 Pro, it's a very noticeable improvement; one I'm glad I upgraded to.

So, try it.  You can devise your own test plan with and without your Dolby enhancements to see what the impact is.  Trust your ears.

+1! There's plenty with free, to get a taste of the awesomeness fiddy provides.

Can you still use computer for anything else?

Like high end gaming ? 3D modelling? Programming? High definition videos?

I am a bit bothered, because I am doing lots of work, and while I would love to add even more quality to my music, I must get my work done too. From my knowledge of Windows, the modifications brought might affect performance when doing other things.

You might be able to do gaming and 3D modelling on the Consumer setting (whatever the least intensive is).  I can't speak to that directly, though.  I use "Purist" (highest level of tweaking) on "Media Center" (I guess the least intensive of the fine tuning levels) and can record and playback live HDTV using two digital TV tuners, all via 5G WiFi.  I don't do much more than that simultaneously though.  Playback on foobar2000 works fine.

Hopefully Windows X can address your specific concerns.  If he doesn't reply herein, email him directly.  He's quite responsive generally.

You'll get free version's performance for free. I start this project as freeware and I intend to keep it that way. Fidelizer Upgrade Program is an extension to develop and improve things over free version. There should be no problem in upgrading if you think performance you receive is worth paying for. It's more like giving a free ride and tip me back if you're satisfied rather than trying before buying. :)

You can use Consumer user level to optimize Windows for better audio performance without affecting work applications. I also use Fidelizer Pro at Consumer level on PC/laptop with games and intensive apps like compiling Android ROM in uBuntu through VirtualBox's virtualization without trouble.

Just had a false positive when launching Fidelizer Pro 7.1.  I reported it as such to avast.  It's curious, since avast scanned every version of Fidelizer I've run since 6.14 and found no problems.  I guess the latest program update for avast caused this.

Just thought I'd throw it out there.

LOL. So I just checked avast for a program update, even though I installed one a couple days ago.  Usually they are weeks apart, but hey ho! another program update.  Reckon they received a lot of complaints.

Latest version still flags Fidelizer, but adding the main executable and the one under C:\Windows seems to have done the trick.  There was a .TMP file under C:\Windows that was also flagged while Fidelizer was initializing, but that didn't seem to stop Fidelizer from launching... finally.

Kaspersky told me they'll fix it in next update but I'm not sure how Avast will manage it. I've submitted false positive report to Avast now and hope they'll fix it soon.

Based on this thread I decided to give Fidelizer a shot. I hadn't done a direct comparison with and without Fidelizer turned on until one day I hadn't bothered to launch Fidelizer and heard some troubling digital noise in a quiet passage of a song I know quite well. I run iTunes as I am fairly entrenched in the Apple ecosystem, and was running my audio from my PC via coax cable to my Schiit Bifrost into my Asgard 2. In an effort to reduce the digital noise I enabled Fidelizer and played the track again. I was surprised to hear a noticeable difference immediately, and when it got to the quiet passage the digital noise had been reduced significantly. This made a believer of me and I determined to purchase a copy of the program as I have only been using the freeware version.

My issue, and question, is that I have been encountering some trouble lately when I launch Fidelizer as I will press play in iTunes and the transport won't move, regardless of what song I try to play. It's like it gets stuck at the beginning of the song without playing anything. As mentioned, I'd like to purchase the full version, but I'm hesitant to do so if I continue to encounter this issue as it makes the music unplayable. I can play music without issue if Fidelizer isn't enabled, but have to restart the computer if I run Fidelizer first and encounter the error. I can't seem to reproduce the issue dependably as on occasion it will play when Fidelizer is enabled, but more often than not it won't. I would appreciate any advice as I have found value in the product and would like to continue using it. As a side note, I also have the original Schiit Modi connected via usb that I will switch to depending on which speakers I am using, and switching audio devices does not solve the problem. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
