Audeze SINE Series

Also remember that the SINE is first and foremost a fashion headphone, albeit one that sounds very good. That means you audiophile guys aren't the target market for this headphone - it's sold in Apple stores after all.

I bought my Sine + cipher as the best sounding portable on-ear I could find. Nice that it looks nice, but fashion was not a consideration for me.

I don't think the Sine is anywhere near being a fashion headphone-it's plain black and from a distance it looks like a pair of $20 cheapies-which isn't a bad thing at all if you're doing public transit.

What would be a similar sounding IEM (in terms of sonic quality) as the Audeze sine driven by a quality amplifier (say Cayin C5)? Like to hear opinions from those who have heard such IEMs to make a comparison.

I have Nova and U12, which to my ear, have a quite similar presentation to Sine sound. That said, your best bet might be the iSine. :)

Thanks Jeffri,
iSine, specially the 10 looks quite interesting (and affordable to some extent), but it is open back. I like the sound isolating quality of IEMs where nothing comes in between you and your music. The nova looks quite promising tom me and same price range as the Sine.

You might want to give it a try first. Nova isn't as extended in the high region as Sine, but the low-end and mids has similar qualities to my ear. :)

Anyone tried the 3,5 mm cable with the chord mojo? If i have understand right, the chiper/ligthning cable is best to use.But what if i use the 3,5 mm cable with my mojo? :)

Yes, and Mojo + 3.5mm Sines sounds great, but you sacrifice the portability that the Cipher brings.  I use the Cipher when mobile, and pack the Mojo in my luggage for use at the hotel.

Sine & Mojo is a great combination, i dont really understand people saying its not portable, the mojo is tiny smaller than most phones that will be used as transport it just fits in the pocket not really weighty and even accordin g to Audeze will sound better than the Cipher.

i think shure se535 have same warm weighty juicy detailed fluid slightly on the dark side sound with rich tonality and textured bass, very musical!
as for isolation , and comfort , one of the best IEMS in those terms...

very high quality build , great cables...

Highly recommended!

Portable means different things to different people. I don't think there is a standard definition in the community.  For me portable it has to fit in my pocket, as in I don't want to carry a brick with me.  But for other people portable means that you can travel with them in your backpack etc etc.  So it all depends.

The second case should be called "transportable".

Correct: Sine is not portable ...it is big, heavy, unstable , thus... transportable !
This is why Cipher Cable is useless.
IEMs are portable.

different headphones for different needs...

sometimes i feel like going out with beyerdynamic t5p(superior 3d imaging , soundstage depth/width tranceperncy ,air ,separation )
sometimes with Sines ( tonality, texture , effortless dynamic of planar drivers)
sometimes with shure se535 ( superior comfort and isolation )

i am willing to make some compromises in order to get what i want "right now" depending on the mood ...

all this discussions on whats portable and whats not going sideways once someone laying focus on one pair/type of headphones and expecting it to do it all ...

portable rig is the one you can/feel comfortable to carry with you in order to get the sound you want, last two words makes it as subjective as it gets...

its all about comfort and sound quality , you can't bring those to points to its maximum , gotta sacrifice one or another to some extent.

Sine with cipher cable from iphone6 or iPad air, is a good compromise between comfort and sound quality ...
