Audeze SINE Series

I too had the PM-3 before discovering Sine.

I thought that the PM-3 unamped was good, and amped was "gooder".

I think the Sine unamped is good, and amped is "great".

Everything truly comes alive...bass comes through...musicality/fun if off the charts...everything is great. You'll be blown away once you run it through Mojo (and even when you ultimately get your hands on Cipher).

Thanks for those observations! I look forward to the amped "great"!

Does Audeze offer a longer regular cable? Does anyone make longer/fancier cables for the Sine yet?

I don't think Audeze makes any other cable options yet. And those angled plugs don't give me much hope about anyone coming out with an aftermarket one for a bit yet.

I made a 6 foot 3.5mm F to 3.5mm M extension cable from a length of mogami 2893 I had - to use at my desk with headphones that have short cables. Similar ones are not very expensive if you don't want to bother making it.

Got my Sines with Cypher cable today. So far i´m very impressed! Now I can finally use Tidal with equalizer. I have redused hearing abilities on 5-8 kHz and this cable does the trick. On my iPhone 6 the Audeze app works perfectly. But on my iPad pro, the app crashes if I try to edit or switch the presets. Not a big deal since it carry over the settings
I´v done on my iPhone. But the Cypher cable seems a bit unstable on my iPad pro. I sometimes must reconnect the cable to get sound. Hope it´s fixable with a firmware update.

I´v also tried the Sines with my Chord Hugo, and WOW, that´s when they really shine. Very fast, accurate, transparent and effortless sound. These cans really scale up with equipment. But I really enjoy them with the cypher on my iPhone. And that´s my primary use for them.

I´v also tried them from my Onkyo DP-X1, and they seem a bit underpowered. I have to crank the volume almost to max to get a normal to high volume. (Part because I use negative EQ due to mye hearing condition)

I´m gonna let these burn in over night to see if there´s any difference tomorrow.

PS. These are so much better than EL-8C in every way, except for comfort.

Doesn't the European version of the DP-X1 also have the significant volume limitation issue due to EU regulations? Wonder if that's part of the problem.

There´s no european version yet to my knowledge. I bought it from pricejapan.com (as almost everybody else up to recently). I guess if Audeze made a balanced cable for Sine it would work much better, since both amps are used in balansed mode. But it´s not a big deal for me since I plan to use my Sines mostly with my iPhone or Hugo.

Ah, maybe I was thinking about the Pioneer version.

Thanks! I did manage to find one place. I have a headphone cable for my H6 coming from plussoundaudio. I'll give it a try and then order for the Sine.

No problem building Sine cables with 3.5mm straight plugs.

Good to know. I wasn't sure how narrow and deep those channels were. Does lose the nice wrap forward of the cables, but that can be offset by other benefits. Very cool.

I just posted this on an iPhone 6 thread, but I thought you'd appreciate it here.

I just finished A/B testing (to the best of my ability) the Sine through Cipher vs through Dragonfly Red. It was sort of hard to do because switching out the cables quickly is anything but easy -- they don't exactly go in/out of the ear cups in a flash. So I went through songs I'm very familiar with multiple times with Red, then same order through with Cipher. The side by side pics are below -- one of the big surprises to note is how much lower I could have the volume on Cipher to reach the same output level..it's pretty significant. Overall, I'd say the Cipher sounds a little bit smoother overall with a little more bass impact than the Red. Don't get me wrong -- the Red sounds really good with my iPod...I just think it sounds great with my laptop (I believe that's where it really shines). So the fact that Cipher actually sounds better to my ears and is more portable/less bulky than Red is pretty effin' awesome.

And a funny thing is -- the player I'm using (Korg iAudioGate) actually plays through the correct sample size on Red, but down-samples on Cipher. The Ray LaMontagne song is 96.0 kHz and plays 96 via Red, but 48 via Cipher. And the Loretta Lynn song is 192.0 kHz, plays 96 via Red and 48 via Cipher. (and I still think Cipher sounds better)

Note -- I did NOT see how Red responds to EQing, which may make a difference. I did them both flat, and then I went through Cipher a 2nd time w/ the Audeze app EQ applied (screenshot below). It looks drastic, but it's actually a very subtle difference. Anyway, let me know if you have any questions.

Oh thank god.

HAHA I guess I will be looking you up shortly.  I like the idea of the strain relief on the Audeze, though I worry it puts a heck of a lot of load on the jack its self if you have a massive stuff up.

But gee do I HATE the stock cable!

Nice quite a compliment for the Cable!!!

I dont run an iDevice, so I am using my mojo+phone, however if I had an iOS device I would run the cable simply for the convenience and very little trade off it would seem.

In saying that, the Sine sounds amazing with the Mojo!

They are very narrow and deep, so we have to use very small 3.5mm connectors on these. As well, if you like them angled, the heatshrinks we use for strain relief can be U-shaped to look similar to the stock connectors, just let us know.

Apologies if this has already been posted ...

A word of warning to anyone thinking of buying the standard set of Sines and picking up the Cipher cable later... go for the Cipher version if you have any thought on wanting to take advantage of one ...

The response frame Audeze customer services following a request to ask how I could get hold of just the Cipher cable itself ... looks like it's Apple being overly controlling of the retail experience ... grrrrr.

Hi Martin

Thank you for contacting us and for buying a pair of Sines. The Lightning Cable is currently available only with the headphones but will hopefully be available for purchase as an accessory in 6 months or so. The cable will be offered on our website as soon as it's available (price is still TBD), and should ship to dealers shortly afterwards. The delay is due to Apple's reluctance to let us sell it separately, but we hope they'll agree within the next few months.

Thanks for your patience and Best Regards,
