Thanks Jay and David. I think the bands from Turbulent labs look better.

Thanks Jay and David. I think the bands from Turbulent labs look better.

I think the Turbulent labs headband are better then my RS2e original.  Two more picts of Turbulent headband

biggest difference between RS2e original and Turbulent is the amount of padding on the under side

That looks really nice, especially for that price.

Hi guys, my friend started to make leather headbands for grado, thought you might be interested. Especially if you live in EU, cause both plussound and turbulent ship from US :)

Soft leather, memory foam, really comfy :)

I hope you won't kill me for advertisement or whatever :D

So where would an interested dude like myself buy these headbands?

@michauczok, nice headphones and I like the use of the SMC connectors.

Trubulent ships the headbands and wood cups from Aisa, Malaysia IIRC.

Thanks :) I didn't know about turbulent shipping from Malaysia, still, outside EU :D

There is no shop or website, he's just a hobbyist, so e-mail is probably only option available for now. I convinced him to make a headband for my headphones, and it turned up so nice, that I wanted to share :)

I finally found the time to put the measurement rig back in service and shoot some measurements on the Ypsilon.
The Ypsilon are press fitted mounted in RS1 clone mahogany cups.
All measurements are power based, not SPL based, driving voltage is 178mVrms (ie, ~1mW)
Driving amplifier has <0.1ohm output impedance and diminishing low distortion at 1mW/32ohm
Measurement microphone was recently calibrated.

The measurement rig in the "high-tech" isolation chamber (ie, an old closet internally lined with some left over acoustic foam from the studio
tongue_smile.gif
, works like a charm)

Our "heroes"...

Measurement system (and sanity

) check.
This is how a perfect CSD (Cumulative Spectral Decay) looks like.....

....and this is what a perfect Impulse Response looks like..

The measurements:
Impedance and Phase...
Measured with 100ohm output impedance...

Impulse Response...

Since these are DIY drivers often used with different ear pads, there are three Frequency Response curves, with S-cush (flats, not quarter modded) L-cush and G-cush...

CSD...

THD%

...and since there are two "players" in the DIY driver category, Frequency Response with the Magnum V6, overlaid for better comparison,
cups, ear pads, cables and headband are identical...
The common "bump" at ~2kHz is a RS1 cup generated "thingy"...

Complete V6 measurements here...
