Hi all,
I'm looking for a second pair of headphones for the living room. My old Sony MDR-7506s aren't going to cut it. I've owned a pair of AKG K702s for 3-4 years and have been very happy with them, though I would not be opposed to a bit more bass. I do not want anything that is significantly brighter than them. I also don't want to spend a boatload of money. This system is primarily for speakers, I but will use headphones when I need to be considerate of others. Headphone amp is a Grace M920. Music is mostly rock.
I'm currently thinking of the Beyerdynamic DT-880 600 ohm or AKG K7XX next time they come up Massdrop. I also see that the K712s are about $320. Are they worth the extra money over the K7XX or are they functionally the same headphone? What would you guys recommended out of these headphones? Am I overlooking anything in the $2-300 range? Thanks.
