Arkhipov`s Laboratory UNIVERSAL KENO?
Unfortunately, my LCD F and HD 650 see very limited play time. For the type of music I listen to the S performs better.
Arkhipov`s Laboratory UNIVERSAL KENO?
If you predominantly listen to hip hop, electronic, R&B, rock, vocals, trip hop, dubstep, then go with the LCD 3
Acoustic, pop, classical, vocals, live performances, movies, gaming go with he HD800S.
To a degree both can be used to enjoy all genres.
The 800S is technically superior.
The LCD 3 is more musical for more genres, given one choice.
The 800S will most probably be more comfortable.
The 800S is more precision built and will most likely last longer.
The LCD that comes to your door could sound very different to the LCD you audition.
This won't happen with the HD800S.
I somewhat disagree. I had a chance to audition LCD 3 and 4, and I agree with Tyll's review. They are too dark and less degree of clarity compared to HD-800S. They fall short wherever those features can be of great pleasure regardless of genres. I found that HD-800S is more musically expressive and enjoyable. I believe that LCD 3 or 4 would not be the first pick in this price range for many people. It may be the second to the fourth. For me, it is at most the third. (my second pick is Ether C)
I think that is why @potkettleblack noted that the LCD that you audition may not sound like the LCD that gets delivered.
Sennheiser QC is much tighter than Audeze from my limited experience, of the 4 HD-800's that I have heard they all sound the same and my GF's HD-700 and mind both sound identical while the 2 LCD-2f that I've heard other than mine sounded slightly different and the 2 HE-1K that I got to hear at a friends house also sounded slightly different.
I doubt that is my case unless a store manager didn't want to sell them. I auditioned them in a headphone store and they were available for audition for public. fyi, I plugged them into Chord Hugo.
Somewhere i read that it is hard to make very consistent plannar magnetic drivers?... Is it true?I think that is why @potkettleblack

Ok, Thanks for clarification. From what I've experienced with the variations in the LCD-2 it might be but my 2 HE-560 were pretty much the same, still think it has to do with QC
