The release of X1 Gold & Silver in Sep 2014 gave great surprises to our partners and consumers, since it was quite a big breakthrough to the traditional color selection of FiiO. Indeed, it achieved positive feedbacks from the market and was highly praised by our consumers with further request for more colors.

To meet the expectation of the market, we decided to add blue and black to the color option of X1 after detailed market research. Black is a classic color and the most commonly adopted one of FiiO models, while blue is a quite new and refreshing color. We expect them to give consumers a pretty new user experience and bring up the sales performance of X1 to a further high level.

The X1 blue and black are estimated to be shipped out to worldwide sales agents by next week on around Oct 15th, so you can kindly check with local agents (>>Where to Buy) after Oct 20th for its availability, thanks.

Best regards,

FiiO Electronics Technology Co., Ltd.

is the wheel improved from the old versions like the wheel on the X3 II ?

The wheels appears to be exactly the same between the X1 and X3 II. However, I have not disassembled either model.

My X1 unit's is just shy of 12 months old. The wheel as of last month is on the fritz. When attempting to move in either direction, it skips back intermittently the other direction. I does it 100% of the time but bounces back and forth and it takes several attempts to select the desired option, folder, or track. Hope that makes sense.

I am unclear what was the event that broke the wheel. Pretty darn frustrating and disappointing. Outside of the wheel, the X1 worked beautiful and met my expectations and requirements. I have sent an email to Fiio describing the problem. I fear they are just going to direct me to send it in for warranty repair. I guess I should be greatful it broke within the one year warranty.

Update:
It is going to cost me nearly 1/3 the purchase price in shipping to China for Warranty Service repair/replacement. I tossed it in the trash. Not going to throw good money after bad nor wait for shipping to and from China.

My own fault for not verifying they had a service center in the Americas--I did verify they had a one year warranty, and I refuse to pay $100+ for a disposable lossless music player. Sony appears to have service centers all over the U.S. The NW-A25 costs $30 USD over the Fiio X3, but..
