One thing I notice in old movies is that people's bedrooms were simple and not cluttered with junk. In more modern movies and in real life, many people have bedrooms that have so much junk and clutter.

My possible theory is that maybe back in the 1950s and so, buying stuff was not as common like today. Or maybe people's rooms were cluttered but Hollywood wanted to make people's houses look neat and simple in those old films.

Of course, if you watch movies of the modern era or even a movie from the 80s, a typical teenager has a bit of a messy bedroom filled with posters and junk.

Nowadays in our bedrooms, we have wide screen HDTV, desktop PC, monitors, laptop, a desk with a nice comfortable office chair, a stereo with bookshelf speakers, night lamps, and a king size bed.

In our house, our bedroom is so small that, once we have the California King bed in it, there is no room for anything else other than two nightstands and a bookshelf along one wall.  We refer to it as "The Bed Room."

I have a friend who lives in a small apartment in a crowded city and there is literally no room to add anything. I remember visiting and sleeping on the floor and I could not even find a spot to put a book on any shelf or desk so I had to place it on the floor.

I think he probably stopped buying stuff because there literally is no space to add anything!

I'm redesigning my bedroom now to make it look like a hotel room where there is less clutter. Although there is nothing wrong with a cluttered bedroom. I kind of like the more open space. Like my one dresser has nothing on top of it expect a lamp like how you would see in a typical old movie. No more action figures and miscellaneous stuff placed on top of each other.

I also think that there was less products to buy. For example, back then plastic was rare. These days, so many products are made out of plastic and cheap too so you can buy all kinds of stuff and store them in your bedroom.

Back then, you just had a teddy bear and that was it.

Capitalism the one that has the most stuff wins.

In my bedroom I have a racing cockpit a bed some bed table and a bookshelf etc. There is not much stuff on the actual desks though the racing cockpit take a lot of space. Little point put a racing cockpit in the bedroom in the 60s when there was hardly any computers :)

I agree. Simple is in a way the best but it can be hard since there is so much stuff out there to buy. Sometimes I watch YouTube vloggers and they are vlogging from their bedroom. I'll notice how much stuff they have crammed in their space-especially if they live in a small apartment in a big city where the rent is high.
