Glad to see someone from Hong Kong posting here~

The most different tech of X1 to the AK series is the ACG mode

It uses one AMP chip for grounding to produce a cleaner sound

Just my 2 cents

so the basic balanced mode of x1 is technically the same as the al series.

How about the SQ? I read a post that claim the 2.5 of x1 is outperforming the ak players. Any comment?

And i am currently owning the Fiio X7 am1, is it worth to upgrade to x1's 2.5? Or is there any upgrade from x7 to x1's 2.5?

One EQ twist for non-EQ guys:

- EQ Flat will change the sound : vocal further away and coloration will be less

BTW this is using Music (the default app)

You should try out Fiio's AM3 for direct balanced to balanced comparison.

The actual SQ is differ from different DAC chip, AMP chip and circuit design

One cannot just say x1 is outperforming the ak players

It is kind of over generalizing

Oo. How long is your battery lasted bro..???

I am usually listening to the musics at night. The battery last about 3-4 days if listening every night. Besides it will last a week for 3-5 nights. However, if the DP-X1 is connected to Mojo it seems like the battery drained faster?!
Best way is shutting down all unnecessary apps so the battery will last longer.

EQ is relative. So, yes, you can boost a set of frequencies to get a certain sound signature.

You can also ATTENUATE other frequencies and get, effectively, the same sound signature.

So you can boost your bass - but you can also leave your bass alone and DROP your mids and treble and then boost your total volume and get the same thing without any concerns about headroom. If you were to talk to a sound recording engineer, that person would tell you that the PROPER use of an EQ is to attenuate, not to boost.

I just woke up, got a busy morning, and you guys went nuts on replies ha ha ha!

Some really good posts!

I'll do replies when I'm not as busy, though some Head-Fi'ers have awesomely answered posts!

Cheers! ^^

  Dear Laird:

Thank you for confirming my assumption...(yes, all is relative), however, I was more curious about possible, unanticipated adverse/audible effects to the signal quality while attenuating the overall signal level, (by attenuating multiple frequency ranges), signal to noise reduction, headroom reduction, etc....???...not knowing if digital artifacts occur dissimilarly to analogue artifacts...any experience anyone?...

Peace

Hi Guys.

Have a few questions that maybe someone with a better understanding, maybe able to help me.

Second night with the DP-X1 last night, with my Dunu headphones,Wow and Wow I heard sounds that I had never heard in the same song before, just awesome.

1)  To me the Dunu headphones sound better than the Shure SE535, Much more bottom end in the Dunu ? The Shure has great middle and top end,but lacks bottom end( not using 2.5mm port yet) still waiting for cable to arrive. Is my judgement correct?

2) Would I (and I apologies if this is a stupid question) use my Cypher labs Algo Rhythm Picollo portable Amp with this as well? Or is the amp in the DP-X1 sufficient as it is?

Kind Regards

Steve
P.S I love this device

I returned my x7 + am1 to get this one. For me its's worth to upgrade. It has better specs, sound, larger screen than the x7. But its just $50 more.

DP-X1 is better than X7 in EVERY aspects (screen, android version, specs, SD card slot, etc.) but I still prefer the sound of X7 SE than DP-X1 BAL. So I don't think it will be an upgrade (just my 2 cents.) If you want balanced, try AM3 since X7 DAC is excellent.
