ONKYO DP-X1 | Dual Sabre Dacs | Balanced | Sabre BTL Amp | MQA | DSD 256 | Android 5 |

I wonder if someone where to send back their 1st edition DP-X1 if you would get the chance for the new revised edition.

Only if it was within the full return period from the seller, if the seller offers that. ONKYO sure isn't going to do exchanges, they would lose money big time.

Ive seen something like this happen a few years ago where they gave you the option and gave a discount which I would happily do if the jacks are more robust.

DP-X1A is 85,000 yen which is about 820 USD.

It's definitely more expensive than their previous DP-X1 (620 USD).

It could be that some poor international sellers on Ebay will try to charge more than $1,000 USD.
They do this until Onkyo settles down on US Amazon.com.

I hope the compact DP-X1 is much cheaper... $300? would be excellent.

The new Pioneer XDP-300R is 72,000 yen (700 USD).

To my understanding the compact DP-X1 is different than the revised DP-X1A???

Why no official US release information on these? Seems like they are only being rolled out in Japan/

How does the balanced output fare with low impedance, ultra sensitive IEMs like the Empire Ears lineup?

I don't have any Empire Ears IEMs (yet) but I have 64Audio U3's that get a lot of hiss from one of my full size amps and are perfectly quiet on the DP-X1. I don't think you'd have a problem.

Thanks. You noticing much difference between the outputs except for volume? SE sounds pretty good to me. Not sure I can be bothered with the hassle of getting my cable reterminated.

So what exactly are the differences between the DP-X1 & X1A? I translated the link you posted and couldn't see a single difference.

The only change is internal storage upgrade to 64gb
I have read that the SQ even better than the original one because it is built with better components I guess?!

most probably otherwise is ridiculous to release new device with only upgrade the storage
