there are rumors saying the dp-x1 successor that i posted above might be a smartphone. well do notice that there's a hearing bar on it which is usually found on phone.

That could be the 'normal' audio speaker as well, which the DP-X1 didn't have, however there are 2 holes in the bottom, one of them could be a microphone?
Will be the first smartphone with a balanced headphone then I assume.

If this new device is a mobile phone, I will be willing to pay almost anything for it. Fantastic device and the ability to nit have to carry anything else?!? Awesome.

Taking a better look at the pictures: this is a normal speaker, it is situated at the bottom, next to the USB port.
The top hosts the 2 headphones out.
There are some smartphones with a decent DAC already of course: LG V10, LG G5, LG V20 (quad DAC), Axon Z7, Axon Z7 Mini, Marshall something, Vivo X5. However none of these feature a balanced headphone out.

Adding 2 camera's to a DAP seems odd to me, but maybe there is a market for these kind of hybrids, they could call it Selfidio....

I didn't find anything from Onkyo for FCC filings so highly doubtful a smartphone version is forthcoming. At least for the US market.

here is how to about unlocking your onkyo dp-x1. compiled twrp for our device and here is the guide.

prerequisites - fastboot + fastboot drivers for onkyo dp-x1.

okay, so here we go:

turn off your device.
turn it on holding backward and power buttons

connect it to pc.

in command line do

fastboot -i 0x0746 devices

and then you will see your device connected.

next thing - we verify that bootleader unlocked or not

fastboot -i 0x0746 oem device-info

pay attention to

(bootloader)     Device unlocked: false

if it is false - unlock your bootloader by
fastboot -i 0x0746 oem unlock-go

here is twrp 3.0.2-0 recovery:

while you're at the bootloader, you can try to boot to your new twrp recovery by doing
fastboot -i 0x0746 boot twrp-3.0.2-0-Rai_Zin_32.img

if it is booting and working for you, you can replace stock recovery with it by flashing it from fastboot bootloader by
fastboot -i 0x0746 flash recovery twrp-3.0.2-0-Rai_Zin_32.img

or by flashing image through twrp itself (available through menu)

There is a new version of Viper4Android (2.5.0.5)!

Changelog
1. New UI
2. Added cross-channel ("quad channel") convolver support. This allows faithful reproduction of sound-field effects requiring such cross-channel convolution, such as simulation of speaker soundfield on headphones, or crosstalk cancellation (stereo widening) on stereo speakers.
3. Added FET compressor (new compressor / limiter simulating operation of FET circuits)
4. Support for custom settings storage path (no more looking everywhere in the phone for the settings directory!)
5. Miscellaneous bug fixes.

Great.
Yep, in the very same context.

Don't like those art deco looks, though.

Too many flagship headphone releases these days. I gotta keep an open mind.

Yes, but the A800 is only $399 and comparing it directly against my 800S it is really holding it's own.

Is anybody else having issues with the DP-X1 and Apple Music?

On my DP-X1 in Apple Music I cannot add songs to Playlists and also not download more than about 200 songs at once (otherwise download freezes).

I completely reinstalled Android and also Apple Music several times - but the issue just does not disappear.
Also, I have checked a friend`s Android phone if he has the same issue - he did not!

So it must be the DP-X1 firmware I guess?

Any ideas or experiences?

Thanks!
