Quick question...for the Poweramp beta build prop edit, do you insert Meizu HiFi, or just Meizu? Also I'm using Poweramp (as the folder access across both drives is better), but I get far more volume using Poweramp vs the stock music amp. How is that remotely possible, as I thought Poweramp only used the snapdragon DAC.

Just Meizu:
ro.product.manufacturer=O&P Innovations -> ro.product.manufacturer=Meizu

The difference in volume you describe is caused by some software setting(s). IIRC, the stock player doesn't support ReplayGain, so this would be a likely explanation.

Thanks VERY much

FYI... for those interested,. UAPP USB audio player pro, works great in bitperfect mode, and will access BOTH SD cards, once you do a full folder scan.

It darn expensive though.

Has anyone found a tempered glass option? And a cheaper place to buy the leather case, not $60 from Japan?

I am considering the XDP-100R as replacement for my LG-G3 with iFi Nano iDSD stack, but can't understand why the XDP-100R gets so little attention here on Head-Fi, compared to DAP's in the same price range (Fiio X7, Cayin i5). I can't believe it is that bad, especially if you look at the 'issues' the Chinese competitors seem to have. Anyone who can enlighten me?

I think because the lack of availability in the U.S. market and price point in the market as well as the Onkyo being around 100.00 more for balanced out and dual dacs and amps. I think the pioneer is a heck of a deal especially when you can find it for 489.00 usd shipped from Hong Kong

Thanks for your answer. Over here the price difference with the DP-1X is around € 150 - € 200, the X7 is in between.
So for around € 500 from an european reseller with a 2 year guarantee I basically can't go wrong / there are no better alternatives....
Importing from outside the European Union will cost a fortune on additional taxes, and I am a bit worried with service if this go wrong.

What I do like from the Chinese brands is the VU Meter display, I just love looking at those needles following the beat, does the XDP-100R have such eye candy?

Has anyone found a tempered glass option?

I bought one of these: https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B01D1YU5YM/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o07_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

It's described as "hybrid glass".  I don't know whether it's the same as tempered glass but it's a different categorisation from the rest of the company's plastic film screen protectors.  It certainly feels a lot more substantial than the usual protectors, and it went on very easily with no bubbles (once the screen was cleaned throughly). Works very well and smudges are easy to wipe off.

Anyone else thinking of picking up the xdp-300r when it comes out next month? If it is reasonable I will probably sell my 100r to a friend locally.

No...I'm perfectly happy with the hardware of the XDP-100R, although really disappointed with the software and support, and don't believe it will be any better with the new models.  There are better things to spend money on.  You can get an unbelievable increase in sound quaility, far better than any hardware could do it seems, by just buying a new custom-made USB cable, if posts on the Onkyo thread are to be believed.

I seriously doubt that. I don't want to launch a cable debate but 100mm of cable. Really???!

What about the software dont you like?

1. Doesn't have an Album Artist category.
2. External playlists (i.e. not created by Pioneer's player) are listed but they're empty.
3. Genre category doesn't group by Album Artist.
4. UI is untidy and messy (e.g. too much white space between lines, can't get rid of background image, text overlaid onto album thumbnails, nothing is "delineated" - I think this is Material View not done very well); UI is also a bit awkward and unintuitive, too many swipes to remember.
5. Compilation albums that are listed in the Compilations tab are not removed from the Artist tab (this exacerbates the Album Artist problem).
5. Albums are sorted alphabetically within artist, not chronologically by year.
6. Bluetooth seeking (long press on Next and Previous buttons) doesn't work.
7. Would be nice to have smart/dynamic playlists like GoneMad has.

I think there were a couple of other things too but I can't remember off-hand, I sent them all to Pioneer months ago, but after the first one or two software releases it looks like software development and bug fixes has stopped.  The last release was 6 months ago?

[EDIT: I forgot, there was an update about 2 months ago I think but it didn't change a great deal. Aquare album artowrk added to Now Playing, Seek possible using the hardware Next and Previous buttons, but nothing else visible I think. Comments from other people on the app in the Play Store from months ago also point out the UI issues, Album Artist problem, and albums not sorting by Year.]

Just to let you know, I think this reviewer is pi$$ed with Pioneer for some reason:

http://headfonics.com/2016/09/the-xdp-100r-dap-by-pioneer/

Yep and some of his information is quite incorrect such as the amount of memory the sd slots can hold or what the bumpers are actually for. I think it is far from an unbiased review and he must have girlie hands if the player is too large. My standard s7 though thinner is larger than the pioneer with the bumpers. Imagine the larger phones. I also have to question his ears. He says that the eq does not really make a difference. I notice a huge difference immediately when I play around with the eq.
