Is there a Chicago-specific meet thread that I can stay tuned to? I always seem to miss them. There was a message sent awhile back about starting an email list for area meets, but I never got anything about this one, unfortunately. I look forward to making it out to the next meet!

Thanks for having us. We had a great time. Don't forget...our meet is Sept. 19 in the D. Return the favor?

That sounds tempting.  Thank you for the very gracious invitation.  We'll have to see.  Sounds like a LOT of fun.  Would be even farther from Bettendorf, Iowa though.

Hahaha, and thanks to AxelCloris, I ordered poutine tonight. And for the record, I thought it was actually better at Elephant & Castle. Better gravy.

If you look at the message I sent you about the email list, the link to this meet was at the bottom.  or at least it was supposed to be.  You are on the list I believe.

Beyer DT880 (600 ohm) Some people swear on the improvements between the 250 and this one, but I still can't tell a difference between this and mine. Tried it on a bunch of different amps too. Maybe I have ears of stone?

Im if those were your DT880 250 Ohms but I borrowed them to see if I could tell a difference going back and forth quickly.  Other than your pads feeling different I can't say I would able be able to tell the difference is someone put a random set on my head.

Everyone,

I am doing well with keeping the ongoing list of people interested in receiving a notification email of chicago area meets.  however, as I was updating with names from this thread, I got lost.  I don't want to miss anyone who wants to be on the list.  SO.. Below is the message I sent out regarding the list.  Please read it and PM me if this is new to you and you want to be part of it.

Keith

"Hello,

You are receiving this notice because you have either attended a Chicago area meet, or shown interest in attending one.

I would like to use the members list that I have compiled to let people know of upcoming meets in the Chicago area.  It would be nice to be able to use the PM system at head-fi, but it only allows sending to about 7-8 members at a time.  At this writing, I have over 100.  The next easiest way to do this is through email.

SO, what I would like to do:
When an official meet thread is started, you will receive ONE email from me with a link to the thread.  That is all.  I will not send information on interest threads or impressions.  Just announcements of official meets.  I will not use this list for any other purpose.  I will also not respond to people with questions about the meet.  all the info will be in the thread that I include.

If you would like to be part of this, please respond to my PM with your email address.  If you would not like to be part of this notification chain, do nothing.

The way things have been going, you would receive about 2-3 notifications from me per year.  My hope is that with increased exposure, we will have more meets both small and large, with increased attendance.  My next meet announcement will be much less long winded.

Thank you,
Keith"

If you've never tried it, you're missing out. I recommend finding a local shawarma restaurant and trying some.

It is not Shawarma unless it's WAGYU BEEF SHAWARMA!!!! (which I always have at least once a month)

man this sucks I wish I was at this meet...I did email Enigma Acoustics last month asking where I can listen to the Dharma as I'll be in Indiana / Chicago by November...they did say that it'll be in this meet. 2 months too early...It's hard when your half away across the world (I'm in the Philippines)

Thanks to this thread my family is having Lebanese food tonight.

this is from last night, but I was too hungry and too lazy to post directly from my phone...  was also trying not to drool too much as the ***caine was wearing off post-dentist. This is a different kind of meat/meet

A good idea has sprung forth here though. Maybe I should just start a thread that announces meets. People can subscribe and not deal with the email thing. What do you guys think? What would you prefer? I can create the thread, and notify everyone this first time by email to subscribe to the thread. I would just monitor it then and keep out responses. It would be for announcing only. As long as the mods don't lock it, it could work.

I think you're onto something here. Honestly, I wouldn't mind receiving notifications through both channels (email blast and an announcement thread)... as it is far, far preferable to the alternative of accidentally missing a meet.
