New Beyerdynamic T1 (2nd Generation)
Oct 3, 2015 at 11:12 PM Post #406 of 3,924
I asked Beyerdynamic throu email. Can A20 work with my future t1v2? Because i would not have money for A2. Answer was - Beyerdynamic A20 can reveal Full potential of Beyerdynamic T1 2nd Generation, And it pair very well with my Dt990 was said...

Did you expect anything else? Did you expect them to say their premium headphone amp would not work well with their premium headphone?

I had an opportunity to listen to the T1g2 with the A20 and with the Woo WA8 portable. I though the T1 was much better with the Woo. The bass was a little bit cleaner, and the highs were more detailed and present.

The point is, you have to try amps with your source and your headphones. Vendors will almost always agree that a combination of their equipment will work and sound wonderful (within reason), and third party vendors will almost always tell you how their product will work and sound better.

I just expected they whould said that A20 is not enough for t1, but it will work great with other tesla and dt headphones. Ofcourse there is always something better... Especially when Wa 8 cost is much larger.

I never had any Beyer amp I can't imagine it not doing a good job at least. I recommend doing lots of research before purchasing anything. I loved my crack otl amp pairing was glorious. Got the cheapest woo amp wa3 on its way. Its also otl like crack. I expect it will do good with the 600 ohm t1 as well.

I'm sure Beyerdynamic builds the A20 (and the A2 as well for that matter) to sound good with their own headphones. And both do. Beyerdynamic headphones are not power hungry nor do they exhibit other problematic traits (like wild impedance curves), so no need to look for something massive like the V281 etc.

If one likes the coloration often done by tube amps, thats a whole other story... in that case the A20 may not be the amp of choice. But that does not make the A20 an inferior amp...

The only quibble I have with the A20 is its fixed 100Ohm output impedance that makes it less of an ideal pairing with multi-BA in-ears or maybe some low-impedance headphones (personally I did not like the TH900 driven by the A20). The A2 alleviates that by offering a switch to select an output impedance of 100Ohm or near 0Ohm, making it a more versatile amp. Both the A2 and the A20 drive the T1 with authority and given the stark price difference I have absolutely no problem recommending the A20 instead of the A2 if budget is tight.

I was able to listen to the T1g2 with the A20 and the woo WA8 amp. I thought it was much better with the woo amp. In any event, I preferred the funner sound of the T90. The T1g2 sounded too analytical to me.

Also, the beyer guys told me the T5p has been discontinued ( not the AK version)

Anyone else compared T 1 G2 with T 90? T 90 sounds excellent on Auralic Taurus MKII but the plan was to buy T 1 G2.

mmm......with your trusty ears, would you give up your T1.2 if you can take back your T1? I have a rapidly incoming T1.2 and a recently-acquired, heavily discounted T1 (although price difference is not an issue for me). TIA.

I think you'll be very happy with your incoming T1.2...just listened again to them tonight and they are more than a "refined" T1 IMO. Smoother treble (a very good thing), a tad more down low and the imaging has been improved front-to-back and left-to-right.

If you wanna pay £100 more, go pick local UK retailer "polar audio", it's an official distributor nominated by Beyerdynamic: http://www.polaraudio.co.uk/. It will cost £
853.54.

Called them once, asking them about the availability, the lady picked the phone was quite impatient. So sod it, I won't bother.

However, there is another way to get cheaper price without adding your ridiculous UK VAT.

Go to Thomann. http://www.thomann.de/gb/index.html. cost 988 euros (so around £733) and its free UK delivery inlcuding their own 3-year warrenty plus 5-year warrenty from beyerdynamic (so its 8 years!!!!). It's kinda discret german service, you will understand what I mean when you shop on their website compared to that proud but clumsy polar audio website. That's also the 1st place I find to buy T1 2nd in Europe. They stock them even before the official webiste.

German serivce for german product. That's the way to go.

Hope it can help.
