Hello Forum!

I'm about to buy a new pair of headphones but i am not sure which ones i should pick :)

The title states the models that i have considered.

Here i would like some recommendations of which of the mentioned headphones would be the best. (regardless of price!)

I prefer sound quality over brand name, and listen to music from all genres, but mainly indie-alternative and rock.

If i had to mention the two most important things when considering headphones it would be:
1: sound quality
2: Build quality

The prices i have found aon the different headphones that i mentioned are:
Marshall major: 51.6USD
Audio-technica ATH.... : 44.4USD
Sony MDR EX.....: 67USD
Samsung level in: 59USD

I hope that you can help me make up my mind :)

I heard the Sony's a couple times and even wrote a review of them. I think they are good headphones. They are fairly well balanced for what they are and provide clear sound, but they do have a warm sound signature with elevated bass. Good for rap, and electronic music. Other genre listeners may like more forward mids than these provide.

I felt that they needed a little more power than what a iPhone could provide as an example, but it's not bad without extra amplification. Mic/call quality is good. I do feel that they are just a little more expensive than what they should be though after i had repeated listens.

I found them comfortable. Nice plush ear pads and they are better quality than what is on most similarly priced Sony headphones. Clamping force is very light.

Build quality seemed very good to me as well.

The big bonus of these is that you can pick them up at any wal mart or big electronics store, so if you have any issues it's an easy exchange/refund. Every wal mart I've been to lately also have these on display to listen to with your own player. That's how I heard them.
