Would you consider having the HD800 and LCD-2 as being covered for all music?

Do you think this pair pretty much do all the genres well or do you think there are genres neither are the best at?

I think it is important to have three headphones and an IEM for travel.

I like having a open, closed, and portable closed set so I cover everything from reference recordings to bass heavy.  With this in mind I think it would make sense to have a closed headphone in there somewhere.

True got my Momentums and SE215s to fit that purpose, although I hate sticking something inside my ears...my ears feel violated after 30 minutes of wearing IEMs.

"All music" is way too broad. Maybe in a few lifetimes:rolleyes:

800 sounded way too analytical to my ears. Great imaging, though.
LCD2 is more forgiving, to my ears, of mid quality tracks.

Interesting that someone else mentions this. These were my "cover all" set up as well (but now I have a few more HPs).

If I can be so bold, The LCD-3, HD800 and the Fostex TH-900, is the perfect combination. If I had these three to start, I could have avoided buying anything else. My IEMs are Westone 40's I can't see upgrading these as I'm out of funding. Chord Hugo and iBasso NX90 are a great combination with all the above.

Haha it seems we should just recommend new Head-Fiers to buy the flagships to save themselves the need to upgrade...or maybe that will create monsters that think STAX is Mid-Fi

I'd advise against starting out with totl phones. A newbie wouldn't know what they're listening to. How would they know what they have if they haven't been without?
