Like everyone else here, I'm looking for a new set of headphones.
I'm looking for a set of headphones to use at work, some 4-8 hours a day, so I'm looking for something fulfilling the following:
- Probably not open backed. I don't want to disturb people around me, and I'd like to damped the noises around me slightly. I still need to be able to respond when called.
- Comfortable
- Good sound stage is important.
- Not too sharp a sound. I need to work, and don't want headache-inducing trebles
- Can be driven by a fiio e07k amp.
Now, due to the last point, I thought I was looking for a bit more dull sound, and bought a pair of DT770 that was recommended for its "fun" sound. Although I was happy with the sound stage, I was very disappointed with its muddled mids. I actually prefer the sound of my Superlux HD 668b-s, even though they are clearly blown out of the water by the DT770s on most areas.
So I think I'm back to looking for a pair of headphones with a more truthfully represented sound. Given the poor experience with the DT770, I'm worried I'll have to spend a fair bit more to get something reasonable, and I was really hoping I could stay in the ~£100 area - I may be ready to bite the bullet if I find the "right" headphones in a different price range, though.
Any recommendations?
