FiiO X5 II Custom Themes Thread

  OK...this is embarrassing.

I want to change some EQ titles again but I'm having a problem... again.

I got up to editing the names and saving the changes.
But, when I exit the x5ii folder the pack.bat is gone from the Default FW_1.0 folder.
???

okay, you could re-download firmware tools, and re-paste pack and unpack.

I'd love for my X5ii to display info like this:

1. No # next to the volume. Let there be a number displayed when the change is happening. 3 output curves show up as you increase the volume, but when the volume reaches 100, the 3rd curve, just becomes red. Numbers look nasty.

2. Instead of showing the status of the EQs using Text "EQ = OFF" just grey out an EQ icon.

3. Whats the point of showing the memory card? Its not like you can play music without it. Take it off.

4. Artwork shown in whole. Nothing should overlay it.

5. Retrieve year info and © info from the tags.

6. ALWAYS show file specs. Type/Bitrate/Sample-rate.

Something like...

1. Not possible

2. Not possible.

3. Possible.

4. Not possible.

5. Not possible.

6. Not possible.

For the items listed 'not possible' these would require FiiO to change the firmware on their end. These themes are for changing what's possible with the current firmware released from FiiO. Most of your requests simply can't be done currently with the firmware modification tools as they would require more system level changes. These custom themes only change text, colour, and theme images (not the way album art is displayed).

1. You could actually just keep that numbers near the volume icon, then just make the last wave of the icon red too, if you wanted. I would really want those numbers on the screen, and so will most people, I see little usage for leaving them out.

2. That would be something, but then, it would be way too much work to change EQ preset shown from text to an actual icon. Though it might be something for the better.

3. Simple and possible to be done.

4. NO. Artwork needs to stay as big as possible. I would be much less bothered by the fact that something is over artwork than by the fact that artwork is small.

5. While year might be handy for some, and even more for bands that have multiple versions of albums and remasters (like sonata arctica), showing C and R would consume more screen space, while not showing anything very useful IMHO.

6. Probably useful, has been asked already, has not been shown. I think in X7, you can see this data if you tap on the screen, but otherwise it would clutter the screen without being too helpful. I mean, you know what that file is when you copy it on the cards. You do not know bitrate and bit depth, but again, not very relevant.

George, #3 is easy. Just remove the sd card icons in the topbar, or make them blank. The rest require system level changes to the firmware and not currently possible, no matter how desired.

I don't mind the artwork being as big as possible... but then at least it shouldn't be cropped.

2ndly, perhaps its because of a bad font choice - but many a times, the overlay of text isn't that legible - no?

You can put the covers in paint.net and create borders ensuring everything is shown.
The border will be white unless you tint it like I did here.

Here I added more top to keep a full-screen but clear anything up top that might be obstructed like a title. (outlined in red to show up here)

I updated my RELIC theme pack to FW1.27 Beta. This is a Beta release so I have to add some icons that FiiO introduced in this FW, but thought that the features were too good to skip this Beta release. Given that this IS A BETA RELEASE I have no idea what kind of errors you guys may run in to so please keep that in mind.

RELIC X5ii FW1.27Beta - LINK

Edit: You can find info about this beta release here:

http://www.head-fi.org/t/786112/official-x5-2nd-gen-beta-firmware-download-and-discussion-thread-version-1-27-library-search-function-replaygain-filter-options/30#post_12297988

Edit 2: For those of you who want to update the FW to this new Beta I suggest you leave the str folder in the new FW alone as well as the explorer coordinates. FiiO has changed these from the previous versions so there will be errors if you copy these from an older FW theme. There are a couple new icons as well that relate to the 'Play once then stop' functionality.

Okay, so this particular version contains lots of system tweaks rather than only UI tweaks. As much as I would love to try it, I feel the need of someone testing it before me.

EDIT1::: If there are no chinese fonts, it means that X5II will not be able to play my japanese songs, or show their name? The titles are written in japanese.
