I have just completed a review of the Aune B1 Class A Portable Amplifier.

I've been given permission by Aune to organize a tour of the review unit. If you're in Canada, are a 100+ Head-Fi'er or higher, and would like a chance to try out the B1, please reply to this thread with the following:

- Your location (city and province):
- Headphones you own:
- Portable amplifiers you own:
- Music sources (DAPs, phones) you own:

Initially, 5 applicants will be chosen for the tour. You will not be required to write a formal review of the B1 (though that is an option), but it is hoped that you will provide impressions on the Aune B1 Impressions thread.

Update #1 (June 10, 2015): I'd like to send the B1 out this weekend, so we'll make the deadline for applications this Saturday (June 13) at noon. Once the tour list is set, it will be posted here in the first post of this thread.

Tour Rules:
  • Tour participants will be able to keep the unit for 6 nights, and will forward it to the next participant on the 7th day after receiving it (so if you receive it on a Tuesday, you ship it the following Tuesday).
  • The B1 will be shipped with the original box and accessories. Please do not lose accessories (cables, rubber bands, etc.) B1 package should be shipped in a sturdy box, with some kind of protective padding. You can use the packaging the B1 arrives in, as long as it is still fit for purpose.
  • If you're in the same city as the next participant you can meet to do a handover if you like. Please pass on the packaging as well.
  • When you receive the B1, please post on this thread that it has been received.
  • If you are the next person on the tour, please PM your contact details to the person before you as soon as you see they've received the B1 (that way they have your info well ahead of having to ship it to you when it's your turn). This will help avoid unreasonable delays and keep the tour chugging along nicely.
  • When your week is over, please ship the B1 to the next participant WITH TRACKING. When you send it, please PM the recipient and me with the tracking number and estimated delivery date.
  • If you would like to post a review, have at it and post a link on the Aune B1 Impressions thread. If you don't wish to do a formal review, that's fine; some impressions on the impressions thread would be welcome though.
  • The last person on the tour will ship the B1 back to me, unless further tour participants are added.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Update #2 (June 14, 2015): I've sent the B1 out for the tour, starting with @RedJohn456. He should have it by Wednesday of this week. Was planning on five for the tour, but will go with six for now. If anyone else decides they want in, I may add folks as the tour progresses. If tour participants have Head-Fi buddies they'd like to join, please encourage them to register their interest. Tour order looks like this at the moment:

Let me know if there are issues or questions, and enjoy!

Quick question..... Is the back of the unit actual animal skin or synthetic leather?

WYLMTGTFY?

It would appear it's synthetic.

It's a big deal to me as I'm vegan and I feel that the use of animal skin as some sort of status symbol in today's day and age is barbaric........

............ BUT HEY, THATS JUST ME!!!! Seriously, no judgment here.

I ask because I've seen comments stating both possibilities.

Understood. Want me to ask Aune for you?

Sure. Their site isn't clear. 'Environmental Leather'? What's that? Lol!

The main reason I passed on the Oppo HA-2 is because of the animal skin glued to the device.
