Cleanest treble in an IEM (non CIEM)?

Layla gets a great mention, took me a while (and some spinfit tips) to realise this though...

RE272 mentions intruige me...

i have RE-272 AND CK-10 , and K3003 is better than both these 2 easily

re272 has hollow mids and ck10 is simply mid-tier (plus i detect sibilance now and then)

K3003 is way above their league , imo

angie seems like a better iem than K3003 though , really wanna try it

cheers

Well let's keep this thread alive. Unless there's another newer one that covers topic. I'm looking for newer offerings with clean extended treble. No metallic or splashy or harsh or sibilant.

Disappointed in vsd3s by vsonic. Liking soundmagic E10 but realize there must be better out there. Willing to drop some coin here.

Perhaps you are looking for something that a bit recessed in the lower treble. Perhaps that's what you mean by clean. If that part is emphasized, there is more of a metallic tinge. I believe though the devices used for recording probably doesn't take in sounds naturally(creates a metallic tinge from it, this reveals though the recordings), and more about recording and production quality to create a track with better sonic qualities(although depending on gear, can emphasize undesirable areas, especially the headphones).

Have you tried EQ?

Oh yes.... I have a great home setup with audirvana plus, fab filter proQ2 and goodhertz canopener studio pushing modi multibit into Asgard 2 then out to HD 600s.

I equalize all my cans for equal loudness at all frequency points that are either a byproduct of the cans themselves or my ear canal resonances. I actually have a good workflow I can share with anyone who's interested. And a way to do it for free if you have a program that can handle vst or au plugins.

I typically prefer that 5 to 7k is attenuated on most of my cans via very surgical eq. It's an area my canals are very sensitive to.

Hence the smooth iems I'm seeking! Since my dap can't eq tidal, I need to find an iem that extends well but tames the 5 to 7k area.

Thx for your reply @SilverEars

Odd you'd have the 600 over the 650. I would think 650 would be more of your sound sig.
I liked it as well, but I also enjoy the air above 10K a bit more, and the 600s extend better than the 650s. I still need to tame a bit of lower treble on the 600 to get what I'm looking for at home however. Still the IEMs are what I'm after now and if there are any that match the 650 target curve or the nad hp50 (without the bloaty "room bass") and a little more in that top octave that would be my jam - without eq, that is. HP50s come really close without needing EQ. Innerfidelity and headroom headphone graphs are all I'm familiar with. Are there other resources for graphs you can recommend? especially graphs of IEMs?

Price? Andromeda which I've heard and Inear Prophile 8 gets natural treble comments. Shure kse1500. Angie still rocks the treble.
yeah, by some coin I'm thinking about $500, so the etys may be it. that graph looks tempting. JH money is gonna have to wait until I can audition them at a hi-fi meet or something like that.

@FastAndClean would you say the er4-XRs are as good treble wise as the S? I do like the idea of a couple more dB in the bass

At the $500 price point you should consider the DUNU DK-3001. They have great treble extension but never become fatiguing. I'm not great at technically describing sound, but I think the 3001 have that "clean" treble your looking for. Maybe a reviewer whose heard the 3001 can confirm this.

I can't place my finger on it but the xr didn't do anything for me. I prefer a Campfire Orion and it has a similar bass balance. Single driver BAs are going to be a bit less refined than the best 2 ways etc. If you can find a used Empire ears Spartan, it's super clean. I haven't heard it with Adel but the stock one was very good.

A couple things I haven't heard and have read to be worth a look are the Fender FA5 pro and the Inear SD-2. I haven't read a review or heard them but the Westone W20 is likely a nice option as the successor to the W2.

These all have a bit less sparkle than treble head earphones but to me represent good treble as opposed to somewhat enhanced. The original ER4 sounded somewhat enhanced to me. The new ones don't but also lost a bit of their overall magic IMO.
