I'm sure this is written somewhere in here, but to brighten up or add snap to the Omni all you need to do is remove the frontal damping to your preferences and also try the protein pads which use different foam than the Cowhide and lambskin pads for a more linear presentation.

I'll try removing all the frontal dampening and maybe try to get some protein pads.

@zach915m By the way, I am curious if you will end up making a fully open-back headphone in the future?  From what I have been reading and going through - these Omni's in Cherry or Blackwood may be my end-game for awhile, and if you have open-backs coming down the pipe in the future - I will likely have to get those as well!

Say, ZMF, I'm sure you've had a lot of time with your own creations, so I am curious - what amps do you think best suit your Omni's?  I know all three woods are more similar than they are different and regardless we get some incredible quality, but do you think tube or solid-state do your machinations justice?

Hey!

I don't have a singular preference of tube VS solid state.  My two go to amps right now are the Decware Taboo MK III and the Cavalli Liquid Gold.  I really love Audio GD amps and tune on a Master 11.  I love the Schiit amps, I love the Garage 1217 stuff, and there's tons of other good out there.  I use my JDS Labs Element just as much as anything else too.  It's just so convenient and great sounding.

As far as an open backed headphone, I ofcourse one day would love to produce one, but there is nothing imminent at this point, and anyways even if there was I wouldn't want to spoil the surprise!  Lately I've been auditing my Omni process to get it to be as fast as possible, and it's worked as I am getting close to caught up as I can on Omni orders and the rest.

Thank you!

Good to know on all that, thank you!  I am thinking I am going to get a Lyr 2 and Bifrost Multi-bit so I can go to Solid-state via Lisst tubes!  Now the great decision will be the Omni Cherry or Blackwood, and that Cherry is just too gorgeous.

Thank you for your time, man!

The one pictured above is Purpleheart, not Cherry.  I mention it because I got the impression from your responses above that you thought it was cherry.  If I'm mistaken, feel free to ignore me!

Ahhh.  Still, those're gorgeous, and the Cherries are still very gorgeous from what I can see on ZMF's site!

Yeah. Actually, if I have money to burn, I'd like have a Cherry wood Omni as well. They are also very beautiful. I went for the Purple Heart as it was a limited offering, and a purple-brown natural color is really hard to resist.

This red sandalwood though!!! Kinda wishing it weren't a review pair and my own. And thanks a lot for the tips. Its weird how the Wood takes different shades depending on the angle the light hits it. I need to get a white light for a more accurate color.

Hey all - I'm seriously considering the Omni but without being able to test them I'm in need of opinions.

1) to what extent do you think the Omnis could be considered as upgrade to the HD600?

And

2) would cherry or Blackwood cups be closer to to the HD600 sound signature?

Much obliged!

I have a cherry Omni coming my way and I have to sell either a HE400i or a Vibro Mk. 1 to make up for its cost.

For those who have experience with the three, which pair will be made more redundant by the addition of the Omni?

Why didn't you upgrade your Vibro to an Omni? Not sure how much shipping from UK would cost though. Will selling the Vibro instead of upgrading it save you more money?

The vibro shares more of the omni than the he560. It's semi open but doesn't leak much. Omni does most anything that you listen to the vibro for. I would keep the open 560.

Isn't the first version of the Vibro considered very energetic compared to the more laid back Omni?
