I am looking for a pair of headphones that sound better than the Polk 8000, which actually sound very good.  I have done a-b listening with the NAD Viso HP50 and the Polks are superior.  I listen to mainly rock/alternative music.  I am not looking for a noise cancelling headphone, even thought the Polks are noise cancelling.  I am looking for a closed back because they will be used in the office.  My budget is probably around $300.00.  Can anyone compare the Polks to other headphones?  Thanks for the help.

Spend an extra 100.00 and get the oppo pm3s. A fantastic closed planar phone. :)

Well, since the HP50 are generally considered excellent headphones in the ~ $300 price range, I would say stick with what you have found with those Polks since you like them :)

I am trying to get away from the battery powered headphone so I don't have to change them every couple of weeks.

OK.

What about the Polks was superior to the NADs? If you can describe the sonic qualities you liked better, as well as what the NAD might have done well, then people would have a better frame of reference for offering alternatives since the NADs are more widely known. Otherwise, if we don't know what you like better, kind of hard to make a recommendation :)
