If I'm not wrong Duncan, those tips you are using looks like the Sony MH1 tips.

I had the LG100.
The bass was never bloated or to big. Instead the treble was to hot. After a month it settled, or the bass came up = the sibilance problem gone. I was using MH1 tips. There was an annoying driver-flex on the left side = channel imbalance, and sometimes it sounded a little to way back/thin.
Now, I have the QB3 + GS200.
I think the GS200 is closer to the QB3 in terms of sound. I use a small bore (2mm) double flange tip (from ebay). The QB3 is a little airier. The 200 has more prominent treble, but it does not mean it's more detailed.
I thought the GS200 will sound the same as GS100 -with better cable and smaller housing- but I think they differ in sound. The 200 has more sub-bass, the 100 was more mid-bass centric. The 100's highs were more airy, detailed.
As for the QB3. First I used MH1 tips, then, as the GS200 came I switched to Altec Lansing MZX436 small bore, long sleeve tips (biggest size of the package, that means normally size S-M, as this IEM was made for Woman), which look similar to Westone Star Tips.
The soundstage was biggest, but with time the bass was too much for me. I went back to the MH1 tips (more air,, less, but still great bass), with the position you can see on pic 2.

I just tried the large Sony MH1 tips and I liked the sound very much. The MH1 tips manage to smooth out the high frequency peaks compared to the SpinFit tips. Thanks for your recommendation Duncan and hobbyone. I finally gave in to my temptation and just ordered a pair of QB3 tuned by AKG

Lucky you! Just when I was falling in love with mine, I accidentally cut the cable off and now they're no more.
I've looked for them online and retail, but no one seems to sell it in my country, not even Amazon. Such a shame.

They're on Ebay. I just purchased a pair from them: http://www.ebay.com/itm/New-LG-HSS-F631-QuadBeat3-Earphones-Headphones-Turned-by-AKG-For-V10-Rose-Gold-/322053905677?hash=item4afbe89d0d:g:rPQAAOSwJQdW-Brh
The tuned by AKG version has a more balanced sound signature but if you love a more accentuated bass sound signature then go for the original QB3 instead: http://www.ebay.com/itm/New-LG-HSS-F630-QuadBeat3-in-Ear-G4-Earphones-Headphones-Black-Red-/291724118678?var=&hash=item43ec1cca96m8fSgkGoWdUZt2N6Z-GvQoA
or this one: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Original-LG-QuadBeat-3-Premium-Earphone-LE630-for-LG-G4-G-Flex-2-G3-/181812444033?hash=item2a54ddbb81:g:F~wAAOSwwE5WZetN
Hope this helps.

The LE631 (AKG tuned) rocked up today (the difference, for those that care between LE and LF on any of LG's Quadbeat lineup is that the LE variant is bulk packaged, the LF is retail packaged) - one interesting note for me is that the QB3 original needs to be slightly further away from the ear than the QB3 AKG...
Damned fantastic even with zero hours on the clock, far more balanced than the QB3 (which are officially my most 'fun' IEM now!), but still with all the positive traits in the mids and top end...
Not the most spacious sounding (that goes for the whole line up), but for the pocket money prices these go for - an absolute steal...
Francisk I have a feeling you're gonna love these
Edit:
So impressed am I with the QB3 AKG, that I've decided to snag something else...
Damn, its so dangerous liking something - like Pokémon - Gotta get 'em all

Yes Duncan, I can't wait to receive my QB3 AKG after analysing Speakerphone's frequency graph comparison with the original QB3 which is tuned with more sub. It's almost 5-6dB more actually therefore the original QB3 has a more fun sound signature than the QB3 AKG that appears to be much more balanced. I was actually contemplating on getting the QB3 AKG for a couple of days and finally took your advice and went for it. Now the waiting is killing me )
Btw I have both QB2 and QB2 Special Edition but I still prefer the sound of the first QB Special Edition compared to QB2. Right now my favorite is the QB3 until the QB3 AKG arrive. To be honest I'm not a big fan of LG product until I heard their Quadbeat series. To my ears the QB3 sounds better and more detailed than the very much hyped Zero Audio Tenore. LG is definitely making a statement in the audio world by making such a great sounding IEM at such an affordable price. Now there's no excuse for owning a bad sounding IEM. For those who want a good sounding IEM on a budget, do yourself a favor and get the Quadbeat 3 or Quadbeat 3 tuned by AKG, depending on your bass level preference.

For those in the UK that don't want to run the gauntlet on import duties - I got my pair of QB3 AKG from here... - Standard caveat, no affiliation - just handy that they're based in the UK
Think I might order myself a spare pair - they're that good (if the fit is right), and that is coming from someone who owns a pair of JH Layla

Totally agree with you Duncan, I own the FitEar TG334, Etymotic ER4S, Phonak PFE 112 and 232 , Dunu Titan 1, FiiO EX1 and many more IEMs but I must admit that the LG Quadbeat 3 still holds it's own even compared with some of these expensive IEMs. Color me very very impressed.

Will soon find out - having lost both pairs of my MH1, just ordered another pair hehe...I just tried the large Sony MH1 tips and I liked the sound very much except the bass is a tad too much for me. I think you'll like these tips (assuming that what you're saying is correct as to the origin being the MH1 tip pack) on the AKG version
Yes Duncan, I have the Sony MH1 and I'm now using the MH1 tips after I saw the photo you posted and it definitely fits my ears better than the SpinFit tips, and better sounding too. As for the comparison to the MH1 IEM, I actually prefer the more detailed highs of the QB3 and the bass reaches lower than the MH1 minus the bloaty bass of the MH1 IEM. Now, I only use the MH1 for it's tips....lol...the QB3 is now officially my favorite on the go IEM.

The tweaks that AKG did have done wonders for vocals, I was worried that that cut in the upper registers would make them sound thin compared to the glorious richness of the vanilla QB3, but it smooths out very nicely...
Definitely colour me impressed.

Okay, so - the MH1C turned up today, and - they sound sort of similar to the QB2, but - outclassed by the QB3, and - moreso by the QB3 AKG...
Which prompted me to buy two more pairs of the AKG variant - feeling some hoarding coming on, but - worth it for the bargain price
