People think this thread is about IEM.

It's not.

It's about 20-60Hz

Really 35-55Hz

20 individual Hz in a spectrum of  20Hz to 20Khz....20,20,20

I know what and how to make that region damage ears. I took the smallest and easiest thing on this site to do and ran with it. Puzzles me to no end that it was left there to be debated like some unknown that cannot be touched ,felt or seen. Nah, you can see bass

Your comment about the zx2 is in the wrong thread as it could never be a beast on it's own and nobody is ever sure what another person WILL get.

Unless it's bass.

I love your avatar btw.

I think the reason the ZX2 is in the thread is because ClearBass (on my DAP at least) handles 20-60Hz better than any other built in bass boost I've heard, and from my listening tests the C5 doesn't quite do it justice.  There is less impact for me when putting the C5 in between when ClearBass is enabled, and the C5's bass boost isn't as deep and doesn't have the same impact.  I suggested that pairing it with an amp that has a sharper sound would be preferable, that is if the ClearBass is the same on the ZX2 as it is on my DAP.

Sony changed their sound sig with the S-Master audio models, I seem to remember their being at least 2 tiers of S-Master related equipment so having people's opinions on the unamped and amped sound would be very useful in the pursuit of sub bass.

But is the ClearBass better with, or without the C5?

Don't get me wrong, it's a great sounding amp, there just might be others that are better suited in this scenario.

I'd say better if you turn off the C5 bass boost and don't double boost the lows. If you just use the amp and clear bass is lacking in any manner on it's own you can **** with some eq.

I've tried all combinations and my assessment was that even with ClearBass maxed and the C5's disabled, the impact of the ClearBass is lessened when a C5 is used in line.

I think it has more to do with the slightly soft sound that reviews have attributed to the C5.  I don't think EQ would sharpen the attack.

Either that or the C5 is cutting off very low frequencies possibly somewhere below 25Hz.  I think the softer sound is the more likely of the 2.

Movie time for me.

Mojo to Creative Labs E5 (for eq purposes) to my Ref 1 Too. Creative is an excellent choice for equing the bass for movies. It does introduce more noise. Once I lowered the volume on the E5, noise gone.

Jury is still out on the E5 for music. It does hit hard, but I'm not sure if it's something I can't already do with Neutron. Need more time with it.

I'll never understand some people. What is the point of this post?
