Head-Fi Basshead IEM thread (lists page 1)

I'm looking to try out the ie800. Does anyone have a set they aren't using much? I just want to try them out. I'd be willing to do a short term trade with reputable head fier.

ye wanted to buy it just too expensive. I put flare in both pm4s and it now is studio refined. Reminds hifiman 400 from fiio x7 dap I used in store. Non struggle to understand lyrics. Nice subbass of pm4 and vocals of flare.

mid bass is the last stop before bloat city. They look nice though. Is Cinder a basshead or is he imagining what basshead means to bassheads? <<That's a weird sentence

Ah got it, I think ill pass for that cost even though it is a good discount.. As for if he is or not, no clue, the review is on the front page of head-fi.

My Cayin C5 is slowly dying...

So the question is, should get another unit or are there amps similarly good or even better, but at the same price?

What I need:
- good amount of power to drive
- powerful bass with clear and smooth sound (can't stand any harshness, no V-shape)
- no hiss
- similarly priced to C5

I haven't read this read for months, and am delighted to see that my EX800ST is still sitting at number 1. Pretty good buy I'd say.

It will cause ear damage before distorting in the sub/bass bass region. In a few seconds. I have never touched another set that does that.
Does anyone need that? Who cares.

Same quality and power in same price bracket?
I think the C5 still stomps the e12 in smooth delivery and power and cost is close. Other members can dive in and give rec's

Dying in what way, purely the battery ? I never owned mine long enough to see how durable it was.

There's probably something wrong with the circuitry. I have trouble powering it on - once I switch the wheel, nothing happens. I need to strongly tap it in the middle (or squeeze) to power it on. Every day I need to do it longer and longer. Not sure, if it's worth repairing (out of warranty already) instead of just buying a new one (or a different amp).

I had the E12 - wasn't impressed that much.
I guess it will be hard to have something better in this price bracket.

Poses the question, if your willing to spend a bit more, what does better the c5 and still portable?

what do you mean by better?  power? Sq?

Yes, please explain better.

I find the C5 to be one of the best portable amps out. I've owned a few. Still have my mojo, which sounds great, but doesn't have the bass or boost like the C5. Micro, sounds very good, but I prefer the C5. Not sure which I prefer, C5 or RHA Dacamp L1... The C5 I think has more boost on the bass... But aesthetically and functionally speaking I prefer the RHA.

Try the xduoo xd05. It has the akm dac, the bass boost is 6 db and it sounds really good, with lots of power. I've compared it to the mojo and it has better bass. The rest of the sound is pretty comparable. The mojo has better seperation. It's on massdrop for $169. You can't beat it for that price. A plus is that you can switch opamps.
