Hi, now I have Sennheiser HD 598 (over-ear) and Klipsch Image S4i (in-ear) and now I'm looking to buy some on-ears too. The reason for that is because I'm leaving my country for 3 months and I don't want to bring the HD 598 with me, because they are big and I'm scared that I will break them with the travelling.

I will be in a small apartment with 2 friends and there would probably be no use for the open headphones too, so I was looking for something like Sennheiser HD 25-1 II (which are a bit costly), AKG K518 (which are now discontinued and a bit hard to find), AKG K618/619 (for which I read they are ****, because they are going to break in a few weeks), Sennheiser Momentum on-ear (good looking but costly) and AKG Y50 and Y55.

Which should I go for ? I will be using them on my laptop, but on my Surface 2 too and maybe on my Nokia Lumia 930 sometimes.

In the end I will probably end buying the Sennheiser HD 25 (because I'm really satisfied with my HD 598 and I really trust Sennheiser), but there are so much variants of them that I don't know what are the differences between them. The difference in the price is clear.

Can you help decide which are right for me ?:)

Thanks

Tyll at Innerfidelity did a video review of the HD25-1 II & the Amperior, and he talks a bit about the different versions: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LMl7vZs3DLs

I should have bought an Amperior back when Sennheiser was heavily discounting them. They were a bargain.

I did and ended up selling it.  Thing is, I already had the HD25 II.  Despite Tyl's recommendations, I could not tell that much difference between the two.  Certainly, the 18 ohm Amperior was causing enough of a problem that the advantages of the milled aluminum caps were cancelled out.

In the end, I really had no use for two headphones that were that similar.  I kept the HD25 and sold the Amperior.
