Sennheiser Momentum 2.0 or M2 Wired

Is it really worth it to go from M1 to M2? Or is it more like a sidegrade?

Confort is not an issue for me on the M1, I have rather small ears.

I care more about the soundstage and instrument separation.

Stick with m1 then it's a bargain price right now

There are a couple authorized dealers selling open box M1 for $110. The M2 are $300. Are the M1 really so uncomfortable that it's worth paying nearly 3x as much for the M2? I have a big head and big ears.

That is a really tough question to answer for you. For me, comfort is very important and I find the M2s among the most comfortable available. I am a huge fan of the way Grados sound, but they are so uncomfortable for me that I just cannot listen with them and I really wish this was not the case.

Then get the M2

It is not just about comfort. The deeper earcups cause a better soundstage. The treble is not as rolled of nor is the bass as sloppy, same driver re-tuned with different earcups.

Ahh yeah I'm the same way with Grados. I enjoy the sound but since I dislike wearing them it doesn't matter since they won't be on my head.

Just got my hands on a pair. They're on sale everywhere right now for $249. Get 'em while the price lasts.

I've only had about an hour with them. They are pretty good. Low impedance over-ear cans are something I need to get used to. The M2 powered by a DAP is not on the level of my HD600 fed by a nice desktop amp. But I do appreciate the tonality. There's enough bass for my liking. Quite a bit of detail.

Still, there's a lack of the richness I'm used to with the HD600, or even my JH Audio Angie.

I will give them more time.

Upon further listening, my second impression is much the same as my first. There's a lot to like about the sound. It's very much in line with my preferred signature. The M2 is simply lacking meat. Thickness. Not bass. There's enough of that. But the sound is just a little hollow coming from my AK120ii. When I run it from the Maverick Audio D1 Plus, it fills out nicely.

That's a problem. These are meant to be for mobile use. They should sound good enough from a DAP. IEMs do. Angie sounds thicker, fuller, and better in every way. But she's over a grand. Well, the ATH-IM03 manager a weighty disposition, too.

Again, this might just be the way big, mobile headphones are. I don't know. These are my first. I just expected them to be driven sufficiently by a mobile device. That's sort of their whole point.

Now that M2 Wireless seems to be popping back on sale, has anyone made any comparisons in between Momentum Wireless and B&W P5 Wireless? I have never owned Sennheiser headphones, but Momentum Wireless certainly have my interest–there's just nowhere that I know of to demo them near me.

Also thoughts on Momentum Wireless versus Master & Dynamic MW60 would be very interesting to hear.

For anybody interested, I managed to get the Momentums sounding great on the AK120ii.

Volume set to 90, I turned on EQ, which instantly drops the audible level by around 6 steps. Then I lowered the EQ sliders by 50%, keeping them all even. This of course made the sound drop even further. I had to raise the volume up to 112 to get back to the same listening level as before the EQ. Only now, with a good bit more current and voltage feeding into the Senns.

They really filled out, and grew in dynamism!

Got my pair on Monday. Enjoying them quite a lot. SQ is incredibly solid and the comfort level is among some of greatest I have ever felt on a pair of cans. 350 was a bit pricy for me but once I saw the price dip 100 bucks down, I pounced on the chance I had. Glad I did so

Hi, I'm on my third pair of M2's. I've bought two previous pairs and returned them due to the fact that the right side has clearly been louder than the left. My newest pair is no different. I have checked the output of my iPhone, as well as my MacBook, and I've checked the balance in my accessibility settings and preferences to make sure the sound is centered. I have even flipped the phones around to see if the left ear becomes louder, which is certainly does. Is ANYBODY else having this problem? I cannot find anything online about it. I've also contacted Sennheiser but they act like I'm crazy.
