I have a pair of SR850 that I just cant get comfortable with. The stock velour pads feels like a rock and the AKG replacement pads I ordered are a little better but still start to hurt after a few mins. They mainly start to hurt behind the ears then down to the jaw line after about 10-15 mins I just want to take them off and almost toss em in the bin.

These are my first pair of round over ear headphones I have no problems wearing most oval headphones that have decent pads. So is this an issue for all round designs at approx. $50 price point or round designs in general?

Would the Brainwavz replacements solve the issue? The seller claims these are compatible with AKG K240s and K701s, whose pads also fit the SR850, they're a tight get on the ear cups but comfortable to wear from the reviews I have read.

Any suggestions would be helpful want to give this headphone a fair shot but need them rest more comfortable first.

Comfort is really a personal issue. Everyone's head & ears are a different size & shape, and we all have different tolerances for what is acceptable vs intolerable. Unfortunately, I think all you can do is try the different pads or try different headphones.

Velour pads might help.
Or stuff a few rolled up tissues or strips of foam (if you have any) in between the pads and headphone at different places to make the pressure more even around your ears.

I realize that... maybe it's the ear pads on my audio technica's that have me spoiled was looking for budget semi that are suppose to be fairly neutral sounding and these sounding like they would fit the bill.... guess I didn't realize how uncomfortable  these uncomfortable pads would be

I don't have foam but have some quilt batting that I'll try with current pads to see if they'll be more comfortable while looking for other pads.

Here's a Pic of my Samsons with the BrainWavz Velour pads. They are leaps and bounds more comfortable now than before. The Pads need to be gently stretched but will fit.
