The release of FiiO X1's new firmware FW1.3

I hope this is the best place (on this forum at least) to lodge bugs

I will post directly to Fiio Forums also

Issue: Inline volume controls do not work (tested on Bose QC25s & Sennheiser mm30i) - Play/Pause/Track change controls DO work

Solution: Correct volume controls

Issue: When on low battery, the screen wakes constantly to advise of low battery - this constant activaiton of screen is annoying and further reduces battery life

Solution: Advise user of low battery by flashing unit LED, or advise user only when user activated screen wake

(No image, sorry)

Issue: The options for 'resume mode' are limited. If set to position playback, the song beings playing as soon as unit turns on, regardless of whether headphones are plugged in. This will cause needless battery drain if the unit is turned on mistakenly, and the song playback will not allow Idle Poweroff

Solution: Create mode which remembers and displays position on unit turn on, but does not begin playback until user selects 'Play'

Issue: Unable to change the location of Icons on home screen (not really a bug, more of a customer FW issue)

Solution: Enable location change for home screen icons

Issue: File name is shown rather than song name in all screens (i'm sure this has been logged previously by other users, thousands of times)

Solution: Show song name/track name rather than file name

Despite: "  ★ The original file data in the TF card will not be corrupted when upgrading." - as the upgrade manual states
all my favourite songs (marked by me with the red heart) disappeared. I don't know about the playlists created by the user
because aI had none.
This problem should be mentioned in the upgrade manual.

I'd like to get a clarification on the 5800 limit and whether it is changed in FW 1.3. I've read conflicting opinions on the 5800 limit, when it is going to be fixed and just what the limit actually "limits". I'd like to use the X1 as a "smart thumb drive". On long trips in the car, I plug in a thumb drive and the car radio uploads and plays whatever is on the thumb drive. However, the vehicle has a limit of about 400 files it will recognize from the thumb drive. So even at 5800, the X1 is better than the current state of affairs. But, like most of us, I want more! So here goes:
-------------------------------------
I understand that only 5800 files/songs show up in the media library.
I also understand that only those items in the media library can be searched on, sorted etc.
----------------------------------------
If I have 10,000 files on a microSD card that is readable by the X1,

Can the X1 play all of those songs?
Or can it just play the 5800 in the media library?
---------------------------------------------
If the X1 can play all 10,000 songs,

Can it play them in shuffle mode?
Or is shuffle mode limited to songs in the media library?
----------------------------------------------
Does FW 1.3 have any bearing or impact on these questions?

One time, so far, the player wouldn't play past the current folder to the next with the option enabled. I was playing 44.1khz/16bit lossless wma songs and the next folder had 48khz/24bit lossless wma songs, that's the only thing I can think of that would be different from all the other folders I played through. I switched to the folder manually and it played fine.

Another bug/useless feature: You can only add a song to a playlist if you are currently playing it.
I like to add songs to the now playing list as I browse through my music, that way I only hear what I'm in the mood for.

Suggestions:
Add play counts to a field in the id3tag called play_counts, and update them when the song is done playing.
Add menu that pops up when you press skip (>>) while you are browsing that lets you browse through the letters of the alphabet and relocates your browsing position to the first item that starts with that letter when you select it.
Add a view details option for the current playing song. This option would show things like: kbps, play counts, and all information off of the id3tag.

FW 1.4 is apparently out on the Fiio site as of 5/8/15 (or 8/5/15 in Europe).

I installed 1.4 last night, can't say I notice a difference.
