MyST IzoPhones-60

I am suspicious that the sound signature could be the same.

I also found their sound signature resembling my experience with HE-6, as I mentioned in the review, although a stock version.

It looks quite similar to a modded HE6.

But I suspect it has nothing to do with their similar (?) looks, which I find not to be the case at all =) Or did you mean that the description of their sound looks similar to your feeling of modded HE-6?

I never heard this headphone but since they have the same "gold plated" driver I am thinking they may sound the same.

BTW the earpads on the official website look exactly the same as the Hifiman Velour Pads (well maybe all velour pads are similar)

Good news is that they did the regrill and fuzzor mod :):)

Well, they do sound similar, although not exactly the same, but they have different drivers. MyST's drivers are made in Russia, Hifiman's are made in China. Membrane material could be the same, I don't have information about that, but there are so many other factors that enter the equation like thickness and layout of conductive layer, configuration of magnets etc, that sonic similarity is more a coincidence then a consequence of same, as you call it, gold plated driver.

Also, there is no fazor structure on the drivers.

Talking about Hifiman and Audeze, this MyST IzoPhones-60 looks like a mix between brands, don't you think so?

=D I don't know, maybe they do. =)

But after all, no more than all headphones resemble each other - two earcups, headband, earpads, etc.
I mean, headband of the IzoPhones is a metal stripe wrapped in synthetic material with leather stripe underneath - nothing like Audeze or Hifiman; the way earcups of the Izophones are attached to the headband is rather untrodden path too (I must admit I wish it had mechanism like the one of Audeze or Hifiman), the earcups are made of bare aluminum - doesn't look like both Audezes and Hifimans again.

that's true. most headphones look very similar.

I say that the yoke mechanism is similar to audeze's half ring attached to the mid of the earcup and the earcup is similar to hifiman HE-6 except with metal. the tv antenna-like thingys sticking out is unique though. hahah

the actual link to measurements http://www.innerfidelity.com/images/MySTIzoPhones60.pdf
They seem to be a very mixed bag. Good frequency response but the HPs seem to have some issues at loud volume levels ... the THN at 90db is pretty good but quite ugly at 100db. Also the square waves look kinda funny and seem to indicate flabby & weak bass and overemphasized highs. That seems to be quite the opposite of the available reviews/impressions

Hi, @prot
Thanks, I didn't notice that the old link expired.
The thing is that 100 dB is simply too much for them. They are neither designed to play that loud, nor one might need such loudness levels in real use cases at home, in my opinion.
Regarding the bass flabbiness, what exactly in the measurements did give you such clue? At least sonically, bass tightness is top-notch, despite its level is rolled-off.
As to overemphasized highs: well, they definitely do play on the brighter side of neutrality, and I can imagine that it might be perceived as too bright, we all hear differently after all. :) And in any case, there are Izophones-30, which are more neutral and even than Izo-60.

The square wave measurements look pretty much like the first sample here http://www.innerfidelity.com/content/headphone-measurements-explained-square-wave-response-page-2 ... the Pioneer SE-A1000.

And btw, found a review for the OrtoPhones, hope the translate link works https://z5h64q92x9.net/proxy_u/ru-en.en/bt-test.ru/reviews/nakladnye_naushniki_myst_ortophones_takoj_shkval_i_mow_zvuka_slovno_tebya_pereezzhaet_bul_dozer_i_ni_kapli_diskomforta/ . Very heavy at 700g but otherwise the reviewer seems quite enthusiastic.

Well, that's hard to argue with, they do look alike. Unfortunately, I've never heard those Pioneer SE-A1000 to compare with, but when I listen to the Izophones, such epithets as "sloppy" and "not tight" do not cross my mind by any means.
What else can I say? I see you live in the EU, so if you happen to be in Vienna, you can drop me a line and experience them at first hand =)

Thanks for the link to the review! Here is the original version in Russian: http://bt-test.ru/reviews/nakladnye_naushniki_myst_ortophones_takoj_shkval_i_mow_zvuka_slovno_tebya_pereezzhaet_bul_dozer_i_ni_kapli_diskomforta/

Beer, apfelstrudel & interesting cans... that offer accepts itself :). Thank you, next time I'm in Wien I'll surely think about it. Doesnt happen so often, though .. last time was 1-2 years ago and I do not see anything related in the near future.
