Raleigh / Durham / Cary, NC Meet: Saturday and/or Sunday, March 21st - 22nd, 2015
Mar 19, 2015 at 9:52 PM Post #91 of 120
Man, I'm gonna feel so outta place. Even with all my good and decent gear, I'm the most audiophile person I know in person. It's going to feel weird seeing stuff that I've never even heard of that costs more than my car costs new.

With that said, I really hope someone walks in with an Abyss or some Stax.

Your priorities are messed up if your car costs more

Guys,

Can everyone respond here, PM me or email me directly (sales@nightanddayaudio.com) which day you are coming to the meet?

Is there even anyone coming Sunday only?  From everything I've seen so far, it's looking like Saturday is the day.  Do we even need Sunday?  We will keep it booked.  But just trying to get a last minute final tally

Updates...

The ENIGMAcoustics stuff officially wont make it.  The final production samples that they were trying really hard to schedule to get out to us are held up with a prominent member of the press that wanted additional time to finish up their work.  Sorry!  I really tried and ENIGMAcoustics really tried but the schedule was too tight and the sequence of events just didnt happen at exactly the right time to make the stars align for us.  I'm really bummed about this and cant apologize enough.  I guess we will have to have another one and make sure they make it to that one! :)

Sol took today off and is running a bunch of last minute errands, including picking up munchies, drinks, disinfecting wipes to wipe down gear, etc.  any particular suggestions, last chance to ask.  Remember that we are doing munchies, not full meals.  However, there are a ton of food establishments within walking distance or a minute or two in the car.  For those that are staying a lengthy time,  we will try to organize a run to do a big takeout order for folks if you are interested.

Several local customers offered to loan out their equipment to me for this event so there were extra broken in pieces.  Some of it was dropped off to me last night and more is supposed to come today.  I will update the list with what comes in.  So for certain stuff there hopefully wont be any waiting if i have multiple pieces.  thanks everyone that did that!

There's more but my brain is fried and too many pain meds for wonky back ...  i have a feeling my back is going to be shot even more by the end of the weekend dragging multiple truckloads of gear down to Sol's place :)  But it's going to be so much fun!!!  One more day to go boys and girls!  I'm excited...  are you excited?

Well on my defense my LCD-XC is worth more than the Bluebook value of my car probably. That's why I said new price. :p

On a side note, I do have other hobbies such as knife sharpening with a Wicked Edge system and photography.
By photography I mean I have a decent camera (Nikon D600) and a few good lenses aside from the kit lens. I'd be happy to lend it to NightDayAudio if they want some photos or I could run around annoying people while my wife sits with my gear.
My Wicked Edge sharpener can put a shaving sharp mirror edge on a blade pretty quickly so if anyone carries a pocket knife and wants me to bring it in I will if that's alright. Furthermore if anyone has a stack of knives I'll be able to do them as well but I'll have to ship them back to ya. No charge or anything, all I ask is you cover shipping if need be and unless you bring hours of work for me I won't charge anyone anything. And by hours of work I mean you've got $10,000 worth of knives with super steels. At that point we can talk haha.
And yes, knives can and will get expensive just like headphones.

Awesome. I wish I had thought sooner to let Danny know also. His Cary CDP > Moth Audio setup is still one of the finest I've had the pleasure of listening to.

It's a social event where you also happen to be able to listen to all kinds of equipment you usually don't get to see. So relax (or or else drink too much coffee, like I usually do) and hang out and if you need a break from the crowd, there's probably some way to have a little alone time with some tunes.

Tearing systems apart here at my place now to get stuff ready to load up in the morning...  I will be getting there closer to 10AM since i have to wait for the post office to open up in the morning to pick up packages they tried to deliver today and I missed their arrival... nothing like last minute planning, huh? :)

did a drive by of the location today when visiting with Sol.... there is parking on the main street that the clubhouse is on... but it looks like if that is full, you can go around the backside and there is lots more parking back there... so keep that in mind for folks arriving and not finding a close parking spot :)

Sol got a bunch of munchies... so should be some basic stuff like chips, sodas, etc..  I'm saving up for a Five Guys burger run at some point tomorrow :)

copying music onto external hard drive to make it more portable than on desktop I plan to bring... so others can try it out for themselves...  it's so disorganized though I claim no responsibility for folks that can't figure out my poor organization of folder structure :) I will have a desktop and a few laptops with me... hopefully that will be enough to run the setups...

I'm not sure this is all going to fit in the truck :)

There's a Korean diner inside the S-Mart grocery off Cary Towne Blvd that I like. It might be a little more challenging for people who've only had bibimbop until now. The food is good and it's a sit-down place but the ordering process involves going through the grocery checkout line. They do have the usual Korean-American dishes like bibimbop too, but I don't think they have anything vegetarian.

Hey fellas, so sorry for the last minute update but I don't think I'll be able to make it. I've been fighting a sinus infection sice wednesday, and I'd hoped it get better by today but I woke up this morning feeling like I have a massive vice grip on my head. Just can't handle the 3+ hr drive feeling like this.

Hope you all have a blast! Maybe next time.
