Has anyone tried hooking up a portable CD player to an amplifier and speakers?

Just for fun I connected my Panasonic SL-CT470 portable CD player to a couple of active monitors- the Event 20/20bas and ATC SCM20A, and am getting fantastic results!

I didn't realise the SL-CT470 was THIIIIIIIS good!

Let's not forget that the legendary Ratshack 3400 is a portable most favoured as central part of a system. A while ago, looking on the net, I've found a bunch of people using the SONY D-88 (the one thay plays both sizes of CD's) as a source in some expensive systems. It seems like old Sony's and Panasonics are the most used to this end. It makes sense to a certain extent that if you have a portable that you like you could be able to get more juice out of it with, say, a good preamp and amp. It wouldn't be as good as, perhaps, an entry level player, but the results could keep you happy for a while, at least until you get a good player.

BTW, I really like Chris Isaak, my fave is "Wicked Game", it still brings tears to my eyes.
