Hello folks.
I am looking to buy my first open back over/around ear headphones to use it with my PC and sound blaster Z. budget is mention in the title. currently have Sennheiser Momentum over ear. I listen mostly heavy metal, rock and little bit hip hop.
I'm gonna buy it from amazon in open box condition as it will save me good money.
so far I am looking at Philips Fidelio X1 and L2. kindly suggest me any other brands as well with neutral sound and little bit bass and must be comfortable, I don't want anything like my uncomfortable Momentums.

thank you for reading.

The X1 is an excellent basshead lite can.  The bass is EQed up in its sound signature.  The mids and treble both sound good, although at a significantly lower volume level than its bass.

Although I have not yet heard them, the X2 seems to be the ticket (if they fall within your budget) for a can a bit on the warm side of neutral.  Tyll seems to like them at least as well as the benchmark Senn former flagship, the HD 600.

I find the X1 to be quite comfortable.  However headphone comfort is a very individual thing.  Sizing and sensitivities are unique to each person.  We can point you to headphones that are generally considered to be comfortable and mention others that have garnered complaints for being uncomfortable.  However, the only way to know for sure is to wear them yourself for a time equivalent to your longest listening session.

Thanks for reply. actually in my country there's no option to check/test the headphones that's why I regret to buy Momentums. no option to return or sell once you buy. do you think it's worth to save some money and wait for the price drop of X2. I checked the amazon and there's no Used L2 there at the moment. any other good brands? thanks

So far I have not seen the still relatively new X2 being discounted.  I would only be guessing at future prices.

There are numerous quality brands, but I would probably need to have a better idea of what cans you like to give a well founded recommendation.  For example there is currently a good deal on the KRK KNS 8400 from an Amazon third party seller or two (not sure about where they ship).  However, I suspect that the 8400 does not have enough bass for your taste.

well I only have two headphones, the old beats studio and the momentum over ear. recently installed sound blaster z to replace realtek alc1150 which improved the sound quality in momentums but not the beats, but the beats was better than momentums with alc1150 and not with SBZ.
momentums are really uncomfortable but as i have spend so much money for it so i have to use it, not forcefully.
i don't know how to describe but the momentums have different sound with different mp3s, i mostly have 320kbps files. some have good bass but harsh treble and some have pleasant treble but almost no bass which was not the case with beats. i have to set different EQ settings with almost every song when using momentums which is really annoying. the mids are ok as far as i can tell.

i know it's a closed back but how is v-moda m100? if you have to choose m100 or x1 which one would you go for?

In the direction you are headed, I can't help much.  I normal preferences are not in the direction of bass enhanced cans.  I can tell that both of these cans are well regarded in the basshead lite group.  See:

can anyone suggest open or closed back headphones for metal under $250? I listen like:

as I lay dying
swallow the sun
Marilyn manson
nine inch nails
slipknot
type o negative
etc. and something like pink floyd

are the open back headphones good for these kind of music? and I like to listen little bit at high volume.

thanks
