I absolutely love my Nighthawks, but does anyone know where I can get replacement cables? After 5 days use, my cables have kinks and bends that I can't get out:

Isn't Audioquest a cable company?

It is indeed a cable company that makes superior cables. The Nighthawk cable is irritating but a small price to pay for a super quality cable. You can get replacements from them...also balanced cables.

I'm sorry, my mistake. I don't replacements, I want 3rd party cables. I don't want the same ones because the same thing will most definitely happen again. looking for thick ones like Alpha Dogs.

Search eBay for Oppo pm-1 or sennheiser hd700 cables. Those are compatible with the Nighthawk, balanced or single ended.

Also Oppo sells theirs on their website: http://oppodigital.com/products.asp?cat=45

Note, only the PM-1 and PM-2 cables fit, not the PM-3 ones.

The cable on TTVJ's loaner pair also exhibited the same pattern. It seemed to me that they were twisted on purpose, though I can't say for sure. Probably best to contact AQ directly and get the gory details.

That's a pretty sorry state of affairs for a cable company is it not?

Funny, I've had mine far longer, and have experienced no such issue. I'd contact AudioQuest. They'll replace you cable and what to check the one that's kinked. I seriously doubt they expect nor want that to happen to anyone.

My primary NightHawk cable has been "kinked" at the spots where it was folded in the packaging since the day I got it. It's a little annoying. Must be something about the construction. I also asked about a balanced cable, but they said they don't have one for sale and it would cost $75 to have my stock one reterminated. I said no way, that's ridiculous, and bought a Norne hyper short adapter that lets me use my Audeze cables with it.

As someone new to AQ cables being introduced through the NightHawk, I'm not impressed with either the included cable (which they rave about) or AQ's conversion option, or the lack of availability of balanced options from AQ. Kind of a turn off against buying AQ cables in the future.

The earpads on your NH look very large compared to the ones on my own NH. Are they stock?
As for the cables, mine looked like that new - I think it's normal since the wires are solid core copper.

Those are Alpha Pads that I got from Mr. Speakers, they increased size of the soundstage. The stock pads are also fine and I'm still on the fence about whether or not I make this a permanent change.

This was also my experience. I mean, they still sound sensational but it is pretty annoying having a kinked up cable on $600 cans.
