I just saw this, a new DAP from Hong Kong from a company called HUM - the "Pervasion". It's powered by a 28nm A9 Dual Core processor and looks like it's going to run on an Android OS.

What are your thoughts on this? Or has anyone tried this yet?

Sorry I didn't see that. I just heard this new recently when somebody from Facebook posted it.

By the way, I just visited the thread and you are right! It's there somewhere in the middle portion. hehe

I kinda like these android powered DAPs . I just wish they were kinda smaller as I just want one for spotify. My phone is already massive enough but my LG G3 has some downfalls when it comes to sound quality.

Next time around Ill be putting a lot more effort into buying a phone with good sound. But maybe a device like this would change that?

I received my Pervasion last week and I have to say it's got some very good things going for it and a few little quirks too.

The good:

  1. Sound quality is excellent, particularly via line-out
  2. Interface is perfect because it's Android so you can choose the player software you like, use playlists, ReplayGain, and all sorts of other great features
  3. It looks great
  4. It's compact
  5. It's light
  6. You can run the line-out and HP out simultaneously and can adjust the headphone volume without interfering with the line out level

The quirky:

  1. The wifi receiver is pretty weak so you need to be close to your router with good signal for reliable connection
  2. Battery life seems to be shorter than many will like (I need to test this under normal usage without having the screen on the whole time changing tracks / settings, etc.)
  3. There is slight, but noticeable hiss when using the built-in amp
  4. The built-in amp is quite warm (not bad, but it is warmer than some might like) - this also requires further testing to allow for burn-in effects

All-in-all I'm really happy with the Pervasion and look forward to writing a full review soon. I've done an unboxing video if anyone's interested: http://passionforsound.lachlanfennen.com/?p=1249

I think I should have raved more about the Pervasion in my review (and might go back to edit it) - this is a really excellent player!! I completed my first commute with it this week and actually detached my E12DIY because I preferred the Pervasion on its own! It sounds so damn good!

Using Doubletwist Player, best UI imo, the cover art mode is stunning

mhmmmmm

Ultra brief impression, the strength of the unit lies more on the line-out part

PO presentation is quite full sounding and airy, vocal has good weight and no sibilant on various iems/ciems while bass has good texture and depth.

I thought the same, but the amp has either opened up or I've gotten used to it. It sounds brilliant now!
