Ok I think i will go for the Superlux HD-681 EVO BK and will give a short review about how I like them as my first step into the Hi-Fi world (I know it's cheap but definetly better than my old ones :p )

I will buy them somewhere next week so if someone still knows another model which could compete I'm open for that.

Thanks for the advise and letting me into the Head-Fi world :D

Hey congrats, I think the Evo is a really good choice. I have the Sony ZX-300 which are probably similar to your old headphones, and also the ZX-700. I like Evo more than both because it has real bass, is very clear and quite comfortable after they stretch out a bit. Make sure you get the newer versions that come with velour pads and a more balanced sound.

If you're looking for full size the Superlux 668B are probably going to have the best sound quality for the price(I've only had the original 681's which were amazing for about the first hour then I learned what "bright" meant firsthand which didn't work for me for long listening sessions). Just remember these are going to be huge compared to your sony's and they're around ear so depending on how long you use them it can get hot even though they're semi-open.

If you want to stick with something similar, another on-ear, I'd recommend the JVC HA-S400 or HA-S500(these are the ones I always use now because I can use them for long periods of time and they have relatively good sound quality). They will definitely up the sound quality but they won't touch full size semi-open phones like the superlux in overall sound quality.

Basically anything popular on this site in your price range will be better than the Sony's.

Haha good to hear that even in this price range it will be a step up :)
Why is the superlux hd-668B better than the 681EVO while they are in the same price range?
Just curious :)
Thanks for the comment! :D

I do think the 668b are better than the 681. Because the treble isnt as painful(although still very bright) and the mids aren't as distant. The 681 has just too much bass and treble for any real coherency. It needs the filter mod. The 681 EVO I like better than both, and I think that's the best choice.

Although the JVC HAS400/500, Panasonic HTF600, Creative Aurvana Live!, Sennheiser HD429, Porta Pros are all very strong contenders in this price range, below $75

Ohw ok nice! Thanks for the help!

The other models you mention are twice as expensive in my country and my first intention was to buy a cheap but decent headphones so I have something while I save money for the more expensive headsets from a higher price range like that of the Sennheiser HD 558.
I think I will get the Superlux HD-681 EVO BK and do that mod with it. Do you know where a good tuturial for the mod is?

thanks again and I will tell how I like them when I've got those cans!

Sorry for not making a review guys. I promised that i would make one when i got my headphones but the problem is that the headphones i would review aren't available in my country or near countries. So i can't give you guys my impressions of the superlux HD-681 EVO BK
However, if i manage to still get one, then i will put my impressions on the forum as i promised.
