The FiiO X3 2nd gen (ex X3K, X3II) Thread : 192K/24B, CS4398,Native DSD, USB DAC with LO and inline remote

I currently use the X1 with the E11K. I use this set up as my car stereo and as my home stereo, I rarely use headphones. I use the X1 LO mode exclusively because the sound is superior than HO mode. With both my car stereo and my home stereo I need to have the E11K in high gain mode somewhere between 5 and 8.
I have two questions about the X3 second generation.
(1) Based on the setting of the E11K paired with the X1 I mentioned above, will I still need to use the E11K with the X3 second generation for the amp requirements?
(2) I wish I could use the HO on the X1 so I could have access to the built in EQ, but it is too much of a sound quality loss to do that. In regards to sound quality, Is the HO on the X3 second generation comparable to its LO?

Thanks.

Hi I also have a similar question about using the x3 but as a USB DAC. I have an old HiFi system - texhnixs 8077 integrated amp and I want to use my laptop as a source. I was about to buy the dragonfly USB DAC - but I am now thinking about using the x3 as a dedicated USB DAC. Does anyone have any comparisons between USB Dacs like the dragonfly v the x3 when used as a DAC.

if you just need an amp then dragonfly is be fine but if you arent maxing out your volume on the laptop and want the versatility of a DAP then get the x3.

Dear all,

I would just like to apologize for the troubles you guys/gals have had with the discount for X3 1st gen owners hosted on Aliexpress. We would have loved for it to be an equal-opportunity first-come-first served experience that ran smoothly (and selling out suitably quickly to reflect the demand for this player

) but judging from the feedback here it was not to be. Sorry for having Washingtonians sit out on this deal, and sorry Raymate (I'd love to tell you that bestula's thesis is what actually happened, but I don't think we received 200 valid orders all on Friday). I would have loved to do something about the situation while the offer was still going, but I was feeling quite ill these few days and could only watch the proceedings from bed

And now it's all over (for better or for worse).

Anyway, I offer my congratulations to those lucky 200 who got the deal

Although I gather that dealing with Aliexpress had been a pain in the a**, we did eventually manage to sell all 200 promotional X3 2nd gens through it, so our promise was fulfilled. Sorry to those who wasted time in vain trying to get the deal, but (unless I hear differently from FiiO HQ later) I don't see how you may be compensated for your lost time and effort this time around. But we certainly will do things differently and try to make things run more smoothly the next time we have a similar offer!

Best regards,
Joe

Thank you Joe for reply and giving us some idea of what has gone on, guess with the time difference it would have been Saturday when I added to cart so too slow. Lets hope the markets over here settle down and I can get one for the normal prices, right now locally it's being jacked up price wise.

Hello everyone. I'm new to this board and have been following this thread for a week now. I'm pretty sure I'm going to be purchasing one of these 2nd gen X3 units real soon. I have a question regarding the microSD card they need. Are they very picky about needing a high-speed card or will any reputable manufacturers card be sufficient? Any brand to stay away from? SanDisk and Samsung seem to be pretty popular choices for 64GB cards on Amazon.

Thanks!

Go Sandisk/Samsung.

Never had a reliability issue with them, buy from a reputable retailer - as I understand, there are counterfeits out there...

SanDisk Extreme or Ultra Plus - Lexar Pro 300x or 600x - are great cards, my favorite and are recommended! Am using these either in my Nikon!

The wait is finally over! Special thanks to Noisy Motel for the quick shipment.

I am really glad I upgraded from the X1. The X3 2nd Gen is a marvelous dap! I was quite worried about the noise floor but guess what, no hiss using the StageDiver 2! Can't wait to do the ultimate test with the Heaven V when I get access to them this weekend.

Congratulations FiiO and Joe Bloggs for delivering once again! From packaging, to accessories, and the dap itself allcfelt premium. Never been this excited in unboxing. You have come a long way... Keep it up!

For those in Australia you're probably aware X3K is moving like hotcakes, at least two online stores I know of (minidisc / noisy motel) are already on back order.

I have found 4 units available on eBay AUS.

I'm tempted but went with something else for the time being. I also have much faith in FiiO's DAPs, I am always impressed with my X1.

You make us proud FiiO with your DAP performance ratio.
