SONY NW-ZX2

I am in love with this stock casing....

1/ the 90 angled plug will rotate....turning and turning....which in a long run will damage the pins in the ZX2 connector.
2/ Sony thought about this, and Voila...look at this !!! No turning, rotating...stay fixed!!
3/ even if you drop the Zx2 while it is in this case, no damages will be done.....the flip one will open up, and have the screen cracked. Ouch !

Really, no updates at all for the zx1? That's nuts. So if there's a bug in the software they won't address it?

Actually, I used to own a Sony ereader and they only released 1 firmware update ever.

Not that I know of.

Isn't it a different team in Sony for Audio and Phone, which is why there are few similarities between their versions of android they use.

I have a Z Ultra and Z3 Tab and hoped my ZX1 would look the same with some hidef goodness, but it looks nothing like it and seems the two teams haven't even picked up the phone to each other!

I agree that I don't expect the ZX1 or ZX2 androids to be updated like the phones.

Obviously the sound is critical, but giving us updates to lockdown the device if required would have been nice, as having google stuff running is such a waste and stopping services is a risk on a device with seemingly no recovery.

Agree with this, but it looks like what you buy is what you get.

Bought a Fiio Walkman cable to 3.5mm (Analog)

Can line out to another amp and during use can't use the volume buttons on ZX2.

Is that the L5?

Can't get youtube to work. Get a 'This app won't run unless you update Google play services' message. Keep hitting the update but the message will not go away. I stopped a lot of processes but doing a reset does not get it to work. Play store does not work either. Can't download anything? Seems there is no way to turn all the apps and processes on again and restore android to the way it was.

Well, I have heard it with the NuForce Primo 8 and the sound level is enough. But for Stax, either Sr009+727II or Baby Stax, better to have the FIIO X5.

The UI is perfect but the low volume line out is ridiculous for a +1000 euros price tag......

There are some bugs on the SW and if Sony doesn't do an update this will be the last Sony product I will buy as it is crazy to not update something that needs it.

You disabled one too many services. I couldn't say which one in particular. But, if I had to take a guess, if you restart anything starting with "Google", you'll probably be able to start it up again.

And while you're at it, I'd suggest you install Wakelock Detector. It keeps track of everything that wakes up Android and might be sucking down power.

I'm doing my own test right now with it...by leaving the system in "sleep" for an extended period of time. My suspicion is Sony's runtime claims are probably right. I expect roughly 60 hours of playtime of MP3. BUT, only if you play 60 consecutive hours. I think there is a drain in Android that Sony never bothered to address. So, if you want to leave the system "on" for multiple days in a row, you will not get 60 hours.

I just made a call to Sony support to find out how to fix my android problems. This is the line that promises to talk you out of returning your item. Let me say that this was the worst service I have ever encountered on a phone line, from any company, ever.

"Hello, this is Josh" (Indian accent)
"I have a problem with my zx2 audio player."
"What is that? I find nothing with that name."
"NW zx2"
"I still find nothing with that name. What is it?"
"It's Sony's top of the line audio player released a few weeks ago."
" You need to contact Sony canada. This must be an item only released in Canada. This is Sony US. Sony Canada is closed right now."
"How can you not have info on this product? Do you think Sony Canada will have info on this and the US doesn't? It s a worldwide release."

This guy, "Josh", was either getting paid 5 cents an hour or hopefully only one bad apple in the Sony cart. Very impatient and unhelpful tone, and no clue about the zx2.

"Can I speak to your supervisor? Maybe he knows what Sony is selling."
"I will not connect you to my supervisor. Thank you for calling Sony."
"...hello? Hello?"

He actually hung up on me. I didn't even have time to get to the problem I was having with the unit. Wow.

Now I am pissed. I'm taking it back to the local Sony store before it closes next week. Either they reset it to get the apps to work again, or I get a refund. I highly doubt they can do anything with it as their staff is not very good and they have never even seen this unit in the store. They already confirmed they won't get it in. My experience with Sony is going downhill fast.

I am actually thinking that my A17 will have to do.

Can't find any google services to reactivate. I can't download a thing as nothing happens when I hit play store.
