Just checked on Amazon and the cheapest one after shipping, exchange rate and the taxes I will have to pay comes to about $1500AUS. The RRP here is $1599

Not a chance it is worth that price, zero. Over $1000 in any western currency is insanity.

It's a shame that all the other rivals have appalling battery life (unless I missed something). What a dilemma!

Not really, battery life is so over-hyped it isn't funny. When do you think you will need more than say 8 hours of playback time that wouldn't be followed by enough time to fully recharge while you slept for instance. The Zx2 (which I finally heard again recently) is a wonderful sounding device, but given the current competition in the marketplace as I said at over $1000 pure insanity, IMO.

I'm more concerned of the fact that with a shorter battery life the device needs to be recharged more often potentially decreasing the life span of the battery, but I'd love to be proved wrong as it would make my choice so much easier

. I agree with you about the price though.

Battery cycling is quite robust. People change devices before the batteries die. How many times have you yourself ever had a device where the battery wouldn't recharge, or known somebody with that problem? I certainly have never experienced it, not known anybody who has.

Had to buy my daughter a new phone because of the battery could keep the charge anymore (but I think was also time to buy her another one!), but I certainly see your point. That's exactly the reason why I like to hear any opinion as I believe there's no such thing as a bad idea!
