First post but I've been lurking for a good while!
 
I've been looking to upgrade my desktop setup but not sure if I'll keep it at work or home (or back and forth so portability is somewhat important but not an end all).  I tend to like all forms of music so I want something I can throw just about anything at and I think I'm looking at either the HE400 or HD600 as my primary choices - feel free to throw in other suggestions as well though.  Budget is 600ish including the amp/DAC.
 
Thing is I've read that despite the Magni/Modi stack being able to drive either there is a synergy issue with the Dynamic drivers of the Senn's vs the Planar Magnetics of the Hifi's.  Need someone with much deeper understanding of the technology to comment and advise.
 
Fwiw my current sets are VSonic GR07 Classics (in that nice wine color) and some M50s.

The Asgard 2($250)can power just about any sub $1000 headphone and it sounds great too. Or if you want to play around with tubes $100 more the Val 2 is great too you can't go wrong with the good schiit.
Sometimes you can fine B stock for sale on Amazon if you want to save some $.

Appreciate the thoughts. No issues with the dynamic vs planar tho and those products tho?

No I have used the Asgard 2 with both(HE400,T90,DT900,DT880...)it sounds clear and warm without fail.

Hmm... 250 is a bit out of budget there but maybe I'll use the little guys as a stepping stone.
