Heyho,

heard that one should not use the ultimate BassBox JVC HA-SZ1000 without an amp

I just got a Asus Xonar DX (so no amp!) and I am a total starter who needs bass ^^

However, I have the big problem that high treble hurts my ears a lot. That's why I need a headphone with soft or really low treble / high frequencies.

My first idea after getting the JVC's was to get DT 770 pros (80ohm)

Unfortunately, during this test vid they gave some kind of simulation of the sound: the DT770 Pros (its 32 ohm here!) sound V-shaped and have really evil treble. The M 50s seem to be much more smooth.

I dont have any reference for the custom one pro as there are no simulations for this.

The M50s seem to have some comfort issues and are not as "tanky"

Anyone got experience with the custom pro's? Or can anyone tell me whether the dt700 pro 80 ohms are much smoother than the 32ohms?

With this current info, the M50s seem to be the best choice for my ears and soundcard. Maybe one could even dare to get the JVC 2000 without an amp? (they are 16 ohms so why not...)

Hope for tips and shared experience

Greetings,

Get a Fiio E11K headphone amplifier, for use with the Xonar DX.

Well,

the amp needs a battery and constant charging and I doubt that it will manage power hungry headphones like the sz1000

Can you give some impressions of your dt770 pro?

Would get a stationary amp as I will use the headphones at my desk. Thought about e12 (but its abttery driven, too..)

Getting an Amp + JVC bass boomers is a big step moneywise: talking about 130+ 250 Euros compared to just getting a 130 - 160 Euro Headphone.

Maybe anyone can share some thoughts on dt770 pros, Custom Pros and the M50? (so back to the real topic^^)

Really want to get those Beyerdynamics as the are have a low price here in Germany --> but any treble or V- curve sound kills me

The older FiiO E11 would only drive headphones from it's battery, the newer E11K can also drive headphones off USB power.
