I would hope it would be a HDx75.  650 is dark and 800 is too bright, and looking for happy medium.  I would call the average of the two more closer to what I look for in a reference sound.

The new Sennheiser will be an electro-stat I think. Not a successor as it would have to be a dynamic headphone for that. It will probably be a successor to the Orpheus. 
 
The new Audeze will be a planar

Haha I feel the same way every time I upgrade to a totl graphics card or phone.  I don't think a new release would change the value of their other cans, the LCD-X didn't seem to change the price of LCD-2s and LCD-3s.

It's not about the price, it's about feeling 2nd best ;)
btw, I was referring to the LCD-3 as the flagship, not the X. Though some people may disagree.

I'd say the LCD-3F is "better" for me overall - but, sometimes when I'm wearing my HD800s I think to myself DAMN, these are freakin' amazing.
