You do have both the demo and the custom??? Wow. Do they sound different noticeably?
Could you illuminate me on what's the different between the demo unit and the universal? Does the demo work without the tip? More like a universal fit custom or something?
Sorry for the noob questions!

There's no universal version. The demo needs a tip.

Personally when I tried the (new) demo and compared it to my custom version, they sounded quite similar. Certainly closer than for example the Lear LCM BD4.2 demo vs actual product.

As an interesting aside, the (old) demo is an entirely different story altogether. I managed to AB the old and new demo sets side by side- I actually prefer the frequency response of the former, although this is probably due to phase issues leading to the high frequencies sounding more prominent. The technical performance of the new demo- coherence, imaging, etc, is superior though. Anyway, this is a moot point right now, since no one else will get to hear the (old) demo going forward :)

The demo unit and the custom sound different noticeably, yes.

Even though the demo unit is a universal fit, there is no "universal" Legend R available.  The demo (with my ear canal composition/arrangement) sans tips do not work very well.  I lose about 95% of the total Legend R's sound, reverberation, etc. without tips, meaning at least in my case (and most all) will require some sort of sizes-fit-all tips on the demo's tube.  The demo is not a universal custom housing (such as the Supra's body).  I'll be comparing the demo to the custom (and more IEMs as well) in my upcoming Legend R review.  Hopefully your questions (and then some) will be answered soon, hope these answers tides you over until then!

How's your Supra?  I haven't heard you speak about it at all.  How does it sound?  What color(s) did you get?  Universal or custom?  Please post pictures!

Both my Legend R (custom) and Supra (universal) have been sent back. The ELR had some fit issues, and the Supra had a serious technical problem. Sent them back two and a half weeks ago now, so hopefully there'll be news soon.

Wow, a seven way design. I would be interested in a comparison to my nt6pro - both are bottlenecked with 3 bores. It would also be interesting to hear a comparison with the se5 to see if more bores or more crossover point win. Obviously implementation is everything, but I always felt the extra crossovers took the hiditions and the se5 to the top of the sq charts with the extra 2 bores giving the se5 the advantage.

What issues are you hearing specifically in soundstage - does it sound like the band is performing in a small closet, or is placement smirred? Is this a final design or are that still tuning?

BTW, are they going to be at CANJAM this year with demos? I'm going to make it for the first time this year so any suggestions on upgrades to my nt6pro that I can demo at CANJAM would be appreciated. Is the harmony pro going to be there?

+1

Fit issues regarding the Legend R like how, specifically? What was the method that your audiologist used to to create your impressions? What was the Supra's serious technical problem specifically? This is the first that I have heard of something like that.

The same method I used for all my other ciems, which so far all fit perfectly. With a bite block. The Legend R was too tight.

As for the Supra, there was a 5db channel imbalance left vs right. That's huge, btw. Rather surprising, given mine was universal fit and I told Jack to just send me any colour he chose.

Hopefully you specified exactly what was going on with Jack (the Legend R was too tight, and exactly where it was too tight) for him to make the refit as exemplary as possible for you.

The method my audiologist uses yields perfect fit with my Legend R, but of course, not saying that one method is "better" over the other - just relaying facts.

How did you come to the conclusion that there was specifically a 5dB channel imbalance left vs. right?  I know that EarWerkz is taking care of the issue, but it is something that I at least have never heard of.  You sure you didn't break it?

The only way there could be something wrong is more than likely something is/was structurally wrong with it.

Regarding sending the Legend R and Supra two and a half weeks ago, do you know how long EarWerkz has actually had it for, since you are shipping from Singapore to Georgia?

a fit issue is pretty much my nightmare in this process.  i used a bite block, but it was sideways with my jaw relaxed.  basically the way my jaw is when i'm relaxed with it partially open listening to music.  i felt like biting down or having my jaw too far open would war the shape of my ear canals a bit too much.  my once concern is that i was getting over a cold at the time, and my sinuses were clearing up.  but i don't think it'd make that much of a difference though.

I'm really not sure how long they've had it for, since my local dealer sent it and not me. That being said I don't mind, I know they're slammed with keeping up on orders with the ten day turnaround standard.

Yes, I'm quite sure I didn't break it. Volume matching the two sides showed the difference in sound. Since it was a universal version, also tested by my friends. The difference was not subtle. But well, stuff happens :)

Stuff does happen and I want to applaud you for a sensible pursuit of a remedy with Jack. Nowadays people are too impatient and rant off as keyboard warriors.

Luckily for me, both my Legends and Supra are okay.

Just heard back from Jack, said I should be seeing a tracking number within two weeks, and since I believe in the last backer if the supra Kickstarter project, everyone else who hasn't gotten theirs yet should be seeing a tracking number within the two weeks as well!

Still waiting for my legend to be back from its refit… It was a long 2 and a half week already… Pray that this time it would fit well
