Yeh, me too, but to what end? to be knocked out in the quarter finals?

England (the management) have to instil the "win win win" philosophy into the players minds....... The "a draw will do" philosophy is not good enough to win a championship.

They should be approaching each game with the word "win" firmly implanted in their minds and give it their all....... players these days don't give 100% for their country and seem content strolling around the pitch making funny faces and showing off their tatoos. Less of the showbiz and more effort would be welcome.

Mr. Beckham is paid £100,000 a week yet he can't get a ball past a goalkeeper in a penalty situation....... according to the TV adverts that accompany (ruin) the live matches he's a super hero! hmmmmmmmmmmm......

As I said in my previous post......... these blokes need a kick up the arse from Sven and they need to realise what they are "ordinary blokes who can kick a ball" nothing more, nothing less. If I want to watch a load of primadonna poofters strutting about a stage I'll visit a theatre......... I don't expect to find them on a football pitch.

I think it's fantastic that the Scottish are so poor that their "great moments in Scottish football" involve the English losing and the Scottish not playing!! I guess its always a great moment when the Scottish aren't playing!!

For some reason England struggle against weaker teams in major competitions so for me I consider it a blessing we will more likely play Spain or Portugal than Greece. Not to say that Greece haven't played well, it's just I fancy us to beat Portugal or Spain in the QF over Greece.

We were defensively more sound against the French, barring the last 5 minutes, than against the Swiss. John Terry looked short of match fitness as could be expected. Do we risk playing him again on Monday to get him fitter for the QF - assuming we qualify?

What about Totti's spitting?

I think it was about somebody put some strains on him. I hope his three game penalty is upheld.

He's been known to spit his opponents for no reason (several Finnish and other opponents in various qualifying matches).

I think he must be frustrated that he's not getting penalties/free kicks for stumbling on his own feet, like he does all the time in Serie A

Wayne Rooney quoted on BBC website:
Quote:

"I think we can perform a lot better than we did against the Swiss.

"But the good sign for us is that if you win without performing as well as you can, things can only get better.

"We were a bit nervous, but once we got the goals we settled down and after the second went in we knew we would win."

I'd certainly hope we can perform better!!

As to the comment that "if you win without performing as well as you can, things can only get better", well I always thought that you could play badly and lose. I think that is worse.

Oh well the feet work but Mr Brain has long since departed! (to modify a Blackadder quote)

"Heat" is no excuse for that abysmal display, they just looked liked a bunch of amatuers playing sunday football "after" a session in the pub.

Croatia looked like a very coordinated pacey team against France and I really think England have their work cut out against them. If they bin Michael Owen and bring on Vassels from the beginning they may have the injection of pace needed to conquer the croatian defence.

If that same team walks out on the field against croatia ("walk" being the definitive term) then I fear they will end up crawling out of the tournament on their knees after the match.

Come on Sven! get some discipline into that mottley bunch and kick their arses into shape!

LOL! I don't know why Pinkie but I keep getting tears in my eyes laughing at the thought of your teddy bear with headphones on grinding the heck out Sven on the sidelines...

Does anyone remember the games directly after that horrible Marc Vivien Foe death on the pitch.
The players, out of respect for him, seemed to get fouled really, really badly and would still get straight up and on with the game. Although a terrible thing brought that on, it was really good to see. As most people who have played football can attest to, most of the time when you get fouled, it doesn't hurt much. I'm convinced that more than 90% of the time, those players aren't hurt at all, it's just a way to get a bit of rest, some water, and if you're lucky, a booking for the opposing player.

I know they're two separate games, I understand that point completely. But a part of me always wishes I could see some of those guys playing rugby, a sport where you really get hurt almost every time someone else touches you. If a rugby player is down, he's hurt, which is how it should be. Leave the decision to the ref.
