Hello Head-Fi users!

I am looking for an IEM or CIEM that is optimal for EDM, Dubstep, House, Hip-hop, and Rap music.

WAIT! - Before I get criticized about not doing research, please realize that I have looked into this for about 2 weeks now and would really like some personal feedback from users like yourself!

The genres of music that I listen to are definitely heavy in the bass and sub-bass sections! With that said, that does not mean I want headphones that are totally amazing with bass and then horrible in every other aspect of the music.

I know that there are probably other forums that are similar to this post, but I would like to create an up to date forum post for 2014!

What I am Looking For

Price: 550$ or less

Comfort: I would like headphones that sit well in my ears, and I know that Custom IEM's are the best at this. With that said, that does not rule out all the IEM's that are not custom molded!

Isolation: Isolation is definitely a necessity, as I will be using these while I walk around school or public areas.

Sound: Great bass and sub-bass within the headphone, but not completely lacking in the other areas. I Do Not like treble that is extremely high that makes it fatiguing and sometimes painful to listen to with EDM and House music!

Amped: I prefer not to use an amplifier as it is kind of bulky for portable use!

IEMs I Have Seriously Looked Into

I have been looking at the 1964 EARS QI Headphones, any feedback on these and if they are good with these genres of music?

***Recommendations are encouraged and would be VERY helpful for my purchase of IEM's!***

Thank you all for your time!

Hello,

I too am looking for an answer to this question. I read Joker's very, very well done comparison and was hoping to get his suggestion for this type of music too.

I currently have the Shure SE215s and they are "good" but I am looking for knock your socks off good. My price limit is around $300-$350.

I was looking at the Dunu DN-1000s and read Joker's praise of these. I think these are the ones I want to get but wanted to post the question to ensure that the weight of these have not turned everyone who uses them off?

I thank anyone that has insight into this question.

I think the IE80 is great for what you listen to, IMHO. I've gone through a schittt-load of IEMs for similar sounding music in the past 4 years. Try your best to find a used pair of SE846 if you really want to step up your game. Also...the asg2.5 is relatively new on the scene. It is the newest revision. For what it is worth, the ASG2 has gotten tons of love and admiration. Used you may find it in the 300-400 range, depending on the model, color. I would say the Aurisonics is the best choice considering your genres. Remember...price does not always equal a better product. If you can get over that aspect, you will last a lot longer in this hobby. Save money for a dac/dap/headphone amp. They will also have a great impact on your setup. I love the ie80 and asg2, still holds its own with all the other $1000+ iems i use.

I will look into the Aurisonics asg-2's since you say they are probably the best for my genres of music! The asg 2.5's will definitely be harder to find for a cheaper price than $700. I know that the Sennheiser IE80's are good as well, but not sure how the fitment will be since they are somewhat big. Anyone have any feedback on the 1964EARS QI? The website says it was built around "bass lovers" but not sure if this is true or not!
